Reputable stats needed
Hi Alipacers, I need some help,
I have been challenged on another blog by an Illegal Immigrant supporter, in fact it's an Immigration Lawyer calling me out.
We're always hearing that appox, 80% of the US Citizen are against Illegal Immigration.
I need some reputable stats showing this.
Could someone please find this for me? All efforts are very much appreciated.
Thank You

Some of the activists on this blog are also calling out ALIPAC:
"FedUpinWakegan" already has a thread on this:

We could use some more ALIPACERS on this blog too.------------------------

We were working on compiling a list of all the different polls here at ALIPAC. There are so many, but they are deep in our archives.
I think Cayla was helping with that, send her a PM.

Keep in mind that the main stream media has been caught practicing bias during the Presidential elections of 2008, so it may be difficult to produce the requested information. As every year passes, more Americans are losing their abilities to vote on online polls due to unemployment, etc... Fox News in my opinion has shown the least amount of bias.
This reads that the majority of Americans are against illegal immigration, and feel it is bad for our country.

Just because Americans do not want to do the jobs, doesn't mean they won't do them. It merely suggests they would rather do something else, IMO.
This one says 90% of Americans believe illegal immigration is a problem, rather than a solution.

mkfarnam,
There are lots of polls that show Americans favor enforcement rather than pathway amnesty schemes. Here is the latest from Rassmussen released a few days ago:
"Seventy-four percent (74%) of U.S. voters continue to believe the federal government is not doing enough to secure the country’s borders...
Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans and 73% of unaffiliated voters don’t think the government is doing enough to control the borders, compared to 64% of Democrats...Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters say gaining control of the border is more important than legalizing the status of undocumented workers in the country."

**It's also important to note that the designer polls (New York Times etc.) that ostensibly show Americans support amnesty pathways, rarely or never offer the choice of attrition through enforcement of laws as an option, and usually wrap their amnesty questions around tough-sounding but largely unenforceable conditions (such as make them "learn English" etc. Like we're really going to deport someone if they can't conjugate a verb).Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Another example; this one from Zogby using neutral language:
WASHINGTON (May 3, 2006) – A new Zogby poll of likely voters, using neutral language (see wording on following pages), finds that Americans prefer the House of Representatives’ enforcement-only bill by 2-1 over Senate proposals to legalize illegal immigrants and greatly increase legal immigration. The poll was conducted for the Center for Immigration Studies.
