Thread: Attention! Activity on the Strive Act H.R. 1645

I heard on Lou Dobbs that the Judiciary Committee was taking testimony today from witnesses for the Strive Act. Out of 12 witnesses only 3 were against it and gave testimony opposing it. That doesn't look good. Lou Dobbs said, here we go again, another amnesty being shoved down our throats. He said America needs to wake up.

Well, we're awake, and it looks like we're in for another battle. Has anyone else heard about any other activity on this bill H. R. 1645?

I've had this on my mind all day. Well, the STRIVE crap AND the Mex trucks. The spot on Lou Dobbs is the first I've heard this week. This has GOT to be watched very closely. When I called the Burr, Dole and Miller offices today about the Mexican truck business I also made a point to voice my opposition to the STRIVE act. For the life of me I don't understand why Washington fails to understand that Americans do not, nor will we play the back scratch game to have a secure country.

We need all of us to keep an eye on this monstrosity. I've just signed up for the CSPAN alerts. Hopefully that will help if something comes up on CSPAN 3 as I can only watch this one on my computer.

Yes, but a lot of the heavy industry hitters who were expected didn't show either. However, you're right, this needs watching. Tying amnesty and an H-1B cap increase together will draw out the enemies of both, and that's a good thing for us both. What is more likely is that they'll slip a cap increase into some other bill.

I'm worried that eventually they'll get amnesty by just writing a bill and calling it something unopposed like the "American Flags for Iraq Vets Act of 2007" with a bunch of filler and then slip in amnesty without anyone noticing.

The slime just don't know when to quit. America is still awake and ready to fight!

They just don't seem to get it, do they? We will not accept amnesty of any kind. I guess if this thing moves onto the House floor, they'll get a little taste of what we gave the Senate.

The best thing to do now is WATCH...everyday pull up the bill see where it is and if there are any changes orif it is moved, in the mean time when calling, faxes, and e-mailing about the trucks or any of the crap they are pressing us with ," Ag's bill " in the farm bill, "Dream Act" in the higher education or defence bill (the most likely) since they tied it into citizenship for military service, raise the cap on H1B visa and now visa's for those who are victims of illegals, we need to let them know we will not tolorate the "STRIVE ACT" Man are they filling our plate or what!!!

Tell them to pass some laws to make it easier for our local and state government to enforce immigration laws since this is all just to much for Chertoff, Now you can't even get in the 287g program because they are just to busy.

I heard the same on Univision News.
They reported that a committee brought up the STRIVE ACT. Zoe Lofgren heads that committee in the House that is studying the Act. This committee is just a group of Congressmen that mostly discuss legislation and figure out how to bring it into the House for a vote. Congresswoman Lofgren admitted that she doesn't think that a "Comprehensive" would be passed before the 2008 election. So this is just political pandering by the Open Border Congressmen in order to muster up some support for them.
They are trying to bring back a dead bill.

And if we ignore it they will push it through, if they know we are on to them they will kill the bill they don't need the head ache this close to elections.
