Update: 6 Children Killed in Chicago Fire

Although my heart is heavy seeing anyone die in this horrible way, I have to point out that the Ramirez family wasted no time in hiring a personal injury attorney:

"Statement Is Released on Behalf of the Ramirez and Ramos Families, in Regard to the Death of Their Six Children
Tuesday September 12, 5:48 pm ET

CHICAGO, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by CGT Law Group International, LLP:

    INTRODUCTION

    Made by: Mr. Mauricio Celis
    CGT Law Group International, LLP
    September 12, 2006 -- 3:45pm Weinstein Funeral Home

    Good afternoon.
We realize that many of you have questions and we will not be answering questions today. However, we will be addressing your questions at a future date. It is extremely important that you honor the family's wishes in this time of grieving and healing. On behalf of the Ramirez and Ramos families, we would like to make the following statement. We will read the statement first in Spanish, followed reading the statement in English.

    STATEMENT

(The statement doesn't say much. I was able to pull up the CGT website earlier today, but can't now. They specialize in personal injury and have offices in the border states.)

Interesting . . . just wondering if they are here illegally. Additionally, they were living by candlelight because they couldnot/didnot pay their electric bill so who and why are they suing using international ambulance chasers?

I think "international" here refers to the US and

As to whom they might be suing, it would probably have to be the landlord of the building. The FD originally said that there were no smoke detectors in the apartment, although other residents in the building had them. Then, Mayor Richie Daley said that the building owner or the manager had a "moral obligation" to do something about tenants having no electricity and using candles.

Very interesting case, since the parents are illegals.
