World Follows Trump’s Lead: Nations Abandon Legal ‘Framework’ Building UN Migration Pact

More nations are joining the exodus from the United Nations’ (UN) controversial compact on mass migration, with legal experts now standing up to raise concerns about the drafting of the document and what legal implications signing it might have for countries party to the pact.

President Donald Trump was the first to pull out of the UN pact on migration in December 2017, a move which prompted howls of disapproval from both the mainstream media and globalist leaders.
Yet several nations from all over the world have outright withdrawn from the compact since initially ratifying it in July, or have signalled their intent to do so, as states gain confidence in opposing fashionable but dangerous deals that are not in their own interests.

In comments that cut across the grain of the usual business and practice of the United Nations, President Trump said at the body’s New York headquarters in September: “Migration should not be governed by an international body unaccountable to our own citizens.

“Ultimately, the only long-term solution to the migration crisis is to help people build more hopeful futures in their home countries. Make their countries great again.”
Australia, Israel, and Poland are among the latest to pull out, all citing national interest reasons.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morris remarked Wednesday that the agreement is “inconsistent” with his nation’s best interest, and that the document “fails to adequately distinguish between people who enter Australia illegally and those who come to Australia the right way”, noting the frequent observation that the paper does not differentiate between legal and illegal migration.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also alluded to the document’s ambiguity on illegal migrants, saying Tuesday that: “We are committed to guarding our borders against illegal migrants. This is what we have done, and this is what we will continue to do,” reports the Jerusalem Post.
Switzerland is now postponing a decision on signing the deal, and the nation’s parliament will debate the issue in the coming weeks.
These announcements followed by several days other similar messages from European nations Poland and Austria, who in turn stated their opposition to the document which both emphasises the “inevitable, necessary, and desirable” nature of massive movements of people, and calls on signatories to “prevent” campaigning against mass migration in “the context of electoral campaigns”.

124 people are talking about this

Poland’s Interior Minister Joachim Brudzinski said in October that: “the draft of the agreement does not contain adequately strong guarantees of [nations’] sovereign right to decide who comes into their territory and [nor does it] distinguish legal and illegal migration”.
“We want Poles to be safe in their country.”
Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Croatia (whose President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is pictured with President Trump above) have also signalled alarm pulled out.

26 people are talking about this

The plan has been repeatedly defended in the mainstream media and in the halls of government with claims that the articles set out in the document are not legally binding, however expert legal opinion suggests that while the document is drafted as “non-binding”, it is written in a way that creates a legal framework.
This, Belgian law professor Pierre d’Argent argues, will act like other UN compacts that have proceeded it will be used by lawyers to interpret the meaning of laws.
He said: “…lawyers use this pact as a reference tool to try to guide them… This has already occurred in international or national jurisdictions to refer to instruments that are not legally binding.”
German law professor Matthias Herdegen came to a similar conclusion, as Breitbart London reported. Remarking that the UN compact occupied a “legal grey area”, it “gives the impression of [state] liability” and would raise the expectations of potential migrants in the third world, having the impact of potentially rising migration levels even if no laws actually changed.

Hillary Clinton Says Europe Must Cut Back on Immigration to Stop Rightwing Populists

    By DANIEL POLITI

Hillary Clinton says that the only way politicians in Europe can have a chance of stopping the growth of rightwing populist leaders is to cut back on migrant flows. Widespread fear of immigration has allowed populist leaders to gain power and the only way to combat that is to send a clear message that the continent is “not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support,” the former presidential candidate said in an interview with the Guardian.

“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame,” Clinton said. The former secretary of state seems to imply in the interview that is not the approach she would like to recommend, but rather what is necessary to deal with the current reality.

“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message … because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic,” she said.

Unless leaders are more willing to deal head on with concerns about migration, countries will be vulnerable to populists like President Trump who have managed to exploit the issue to their advantage, Clinton said.

“The use of immigrants as a political device and as a symbol of government gone wrong, of attacks on one’s heritage, one’s identity, one’s national unity has been very much exploited by the current administration here,” she said. “There are solutions to migration that do not require clamping down on the press, on your political opponents and trying to suborn the judiciary, or seeking financial and political help from Russia to support your political parties and movements.”

The UN pact encourages Islamic migration and will lead to annihilation of Western culture – Experts

By Dr. Bill Warner 25 November 2018

    By Alexandros Michailidis / shutterstock.com

This UN Migration Compact is an attempt to make hijra (Islamic migration) a human right, while at the same time undermining a nation’s sovereignty.
All Western nations should withdraw unless their goal is to establish Sharia.
If not resisted by legal means, it is the way to gradually annihilate the non-Islamic host culture and replace it with an Islamic civilisation
The seeds of this UN Compact were planted back in the 70’s when the Economic European Community (which later became the European Union) and the Arab League established their vision for “Eurabia”.
Please read this short one-page explanation of the United Nations Human Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Compact for Migration, written by my research team, CSPI International

Sweden to sign UN migration pact – claims it will lead to “economic and social development”

    By Emma R. 25 November 2018

swedish Prime Minister Stefan Stefan Löfven - Image: phothocosmos / shutterstock.com

Sweden will sign the United Nations’ Global Migration Agreement in December, the government confirms. It claims that the framework is important for Sweden’s economic development and that there is a “great potential” in even more immigration to Sweden.
A number of countries have withdrawn from the agreement. These countries have, among other things, warned that the framework threatens national security, does not distinguish between illegal immigrants and refugees and can ultimately promote even greater influx of migrants from the third world.
The Swedish government is of a completely different view, and instead argues that the initiative is important and will make immigration “safe, orderly and regular”.

Critics of the migration agreement have also argued that it seeks to criminalise critical discussions about immigration.
The government points out, however, that the framework will allow “evidence-based public conversation”. “This means, among other things, that states, in accordance with international law, should work against racism and discrimination against migrants,” one explains.
The migration framework, which is expected to be adopted, is to be voted on at a conference in Marrakesh, Morocco, 10-11 December.
Once approved, the text will be sent to the UN General Assembly where it is formally adopted in the form of a brief resolution in December next year.

BREAKING: Slovakia will not support UN migration pact under any circumstances, Prime Minister says

By Paul Dijks 25 November 2018

Prime Minister of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini - Image: photocosmos1 / shutterstock.com

Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini announced after the European Union Summit on Sunday that Slovakia will NOT support the United Nations Global Migration Compact.
“Slovakia will not support this United Nations pact under any circumstances and will not agree with it,” Pellegrini said after the meetings.
The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is set to be signed in Marrakech in December.
The rejection of the migration pact could pose problems for Pellegrini’s government as Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, who was President of the United Nations General Assembly when the migration pact was adopted, threatened to resign if the government rejects the agreement.
Pellegrini has faith that Lajcak will stay even though they are rejecting the pact, “I will do everything I can to keep him in his seat”.

‘Hypocritical’ UK Govt to Sign UN Migration Pact Despite Pledge to Control Borders

UK Govt to Sign UN Migration Pact Despite Pledge to Control Borders

While debate on the UN migration pact rages worldwide, with a growing number of nations following the United States in withdrawing, the major deal has seen little discussion in the United Kingdom.

Britain’s ruling Conservative Party made pledges to reduce immigration “from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands” in the 2010, 2015, and 2017 general elections, a promise they have not yet made significant progress in keeping.
Indeed, net migration to Britain still runs at over 270,000 a year, and former Tory chancellor George Osborne has suggested the party’s leadership never intended to honour the pledge.
Either way, signing the United Nations’ so-called Global Compact on Migration for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration would be a major step away from ever realising that commitment, a campaign group has said.

219 people are talking about this

British peer Lord Green of Deddington submitted two parliamentary questions to the government this week in which he requested information on whether, and how, the globalist pledge to ease and “enhance” migration would fit with the Conservatives’ long-standing promise to bring it under control and reduce it.

Several recent polls have indicated that controlling immigration levels remains an important topic for British voters.

A press release by Migration Watch UK, the London-based campaign group which Lord Green leads, said of the pact: “The UK Government should make it clear that it will not sign… If they have any regard for their election promises it would be entirely hypocritical to do so.”

Alp Mehmet, vice-chairman of Migration Watch UK, remarked on the UN deal itself, saying: “The Compact appears to have been drafted by diplomats whose aim seems to be to ‘normalise’ mass immigration from the developing world to the West at a time when the public are very clear that they find the scale and pace of such flows to be unsustainable and unacceptable.”
During drafting, British negotiators called for clauses recognising that it is the right and obligation of states to control their own borders, and that there should be a distinction between refugees and economic migrants, but they were not incorporated into the final text.

While legal professionals have said the compact acts lwill create a legal framework that lawyers will interpret at the national level to advance mass migration, it has received little attention or debate in the United Kingdom, where the political space remains consumed by Brexit.

Yet as the UK works to extract itself from one multinational framework and makes a bid for freedom, it may have inadvertently sleepwalked into another, signed by an ostensibly conservative government which pledged to the people in three consecutive elections to control immigration levels.
Breitbart London has reported on the several nations which have decided the document makes an unacceptable grab on national sovereignty and the right to self-determination, however, following the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to withdraw his country from the compact in December 2017.

Others nations withdrew after the final text of the agreement was set, declaring they would not be signing up to the compact in December. Among those that have confirmed, or indicated they are rethinking joining, are Australia, Poland, Israel, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Croatia.

Resistance against UN Migration Pact is increasing rapidly in Europe

By Paul Dijks 26 November 2018

    By photofilippo66 / shutterstock.com

Rejection of the UN Migration Pact Increases. With many of the mind that it should be stopped, the UN Migration Pact has been determined by legal experts as the thin end of the wedge as the UN could at any time once agreed change it from non-binding to binding.
The current list of European member states withdrawing support is growing. The latest country to reject the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is Slovakia, joining ranks with Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland and hopefully Italy.
The agreement is set to be formally approved in December 2018 in Morocco. Also, in Lithuania critics fear that the pact will increase irregular migration and restrict state sovereignty.
The Lithuanian parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs has doubts and has requested additional information fearing that the pact will lead to an increase in illegal migrant flows and leave countries with less power to implement their own migration policies.
“Before sending the interior minister to vote in favour of it, the government must analyse the concerns of many of our very good allies, such as America, Israel and most of Central European countries.
The Baltic countries have a lot of concerns,” Conservative MP Zygimantas Pavilionis, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, said Friday.
