Throughout the US we have had New Deal projects that have been providing valuable service to our citizenry for the last 70 years. For example, besides bridges and roads, out here the Bonneville Power Administration has provided for the entire modernization of the Pacific Northwest and electrical power for myriad industries.

I do believe that it is possible that the "Rebuild America" campaign will get carried away and make union bosses into fat cats, create jobs for illegals, have a lot of dead ends and waste billions---if not trillions of dollars. In this area we are having a knock down drag out political fight on one such project.

What is the final verdict on the New Deal? Like you say it took money away from businesses. But would we have created the modern economy we needed?
