Democrats slam 'offensive' Pelosi image on Breitbart site
By Catalina Camia 16 hours ago
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. (T.J. Kirkpatrick, Getty Images)The Democratic National Committee is furious about a conservative website’s ad campaign that depicts Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi clad in a bikini in a provocative pose with her tongue sticking out.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, called on Republicans to press Breitbart News to remove the artwork — one of several suggestive images on the website promoting the new California site.
The image of Pelosi, beneath one of California Gov. Jerry Brown’s face photo-shopped onto a flexing body builder, includes the sub-head: “Because you can’t make this s— up.”
“To say the least, the Breitbart News ad is foul, offensive and disrespectful to all women. It is a disgusting new low and would be reprehensible against any woman — regardless of party,” Wasserman Schultz wrote. “If GOP leaders are serious about their rebrand, then both their elected and party leadership should condemn this outrageous behavior; call on Breitbart News to immediately remove the ad, and not continue to use this website as a forum for their views.”
In a tweet linking to her statement, Wasserman Schultz called the photo-shopped image of Pelosi “misogynistic.”

Mo Elleithee, the DNC’s director of communications, responded to blogger Ana Marie Cox (founder of the political blog, Wonkette), who called the Pelosi image “unacceptable.”
Breitbart California’s images include the face of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg photo-shopped onto a naked woman’s body, with Breitbart’s logo over the breasts, with the headline “Silicon Valley Girls” and the sub-head “Covering Cali-sized IQs and cup sizes.”
Breitbart News was founded by Andrew Breitbart, a conservative writer who died in 2012. In the announcement for its new California site, Breitbart News executive chairman Stephen Bannon says “there are stories worth telling about the successes of the conservative movement in California and the failures of the left-wing establishment.”Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., wrote in a piece for Breitbart California that the new website “will only help our party evolve, not die.”
Matt K. Lewis, a contributor to The Daily Caller, another conservative publication, wrote that he initially wanted to dismiss the “punk iconography” used by Breitbart California. “But you have to make allowances for shtick,” Lewis wrote. “If the goal was to be provocative — to get people talking — then this campaign has been a success.”
