Biden: New voter ID laws tied to 'hatred'

Vice President Biden said new voter ID laws in North Carolina, Alabama, and Texas were evidence of “hatred” and “zealotry” during a Black History Month event at the Naval Observatory on Tuesday.

The vice president said his votes to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act were among his proudest as a senator, and expressed frustration with a recent Supreme Court ruling striking down a key provision of the law.

"I thought it was done — finally, finally done," Biden said.

The ruling struck down a provision of the law which required certain jurisdictions with a history of voting suppression to clear any changes in their voting laws with the Justice Department. The court said Congress could update the pre-clearance formula, but lawmakers have been unable to agree on new standards.

Some Southern states have subsequently moved aggressively in the interim to impose new, tougher voter I.D. requirements. Supporters of the legislation, including many Republicans, argue the new standards help prevent voter fraud. But civil rights groups and Democrats have blasted the legislation as an attempt to suppress the vote among poor and minority voters, who are less likely to have government-issued photo identification. They also argue that instances of voter fraud are exceedingly rare.

"These guys never go away. Hatred never, never goes away," Biden said. "The zealotry of those who wish to limit the franchise cannot be smothered by reason."

Biden said both President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder were committed to protecting voting rights, and said he was hopeful Congress would address the Voting Rights Act formula to stop "this kind of malarkey."

"This fight has been too long, this fight has been too hard, to do anything other than win — not on the margins, but flat out win,” Biden said.

Holder has sued Texas and North Carolina in bids to overturn the new voter I.D. laws. And at a speech earlier this month at Georgetown University, Holder called on states to repeal laws that prohibit convicted felons from casting a ballot.

“Those swept up in this system too often had their rights rescinded, their dignity diminished, and the full measure of their citizenship revoked for the rest of their lives,” Holder said.

The vice president and his wife, Jill Biden, hosted around 150 guests for the Black History Month reception at his home. Guests included Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, and senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.

Obviously Joe (The Jerk) Biden is full of crap. This is the best answer to him: "Operation American Spring" 16 May 2014, in Washington DC, protest for the resignation of Baroque (The Punk) Obama, Eric (The Thug) Holder and the whole Marxist junta.

For more detailed information Google or Bing "Operation American Spring."

"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."

In which alternate universe did this article say those people exist?
One man's terrorist is another man's undocumented worker.

Unless we enforce laws against illegal aliens today,
tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.

The last word: illegal aliens are ILLEGAL!

"Hate" may be a bit strong but I have to admit that I despise people that engage in voter fraud. The term Dead Democrats is not a new thing.

‘Racist’ Voter ID Laws Popular With Majority Of Americans

March 26, 2014 by Sam Rolley

    THINKSTOCK

The left repeatedly claims that it’s a racist attempt to shut out poor and minority voters. But according to the results of a recent poll of likely voters, a growing majority of Americans support laws requiring proof of citizenship before someone is allowed to vote.
The Rasmussen poll indicates that just 19 percent of likely U.S. voters oppose the idea of requiring proof of voter citizenship laws, and only 29 percent believe that the laws are in any way discriminatory.
Seventy-eight percent support the laws, up from 71 percent last year. And 61 percent of respondents said that they do not think that there is any discriminatory nature to voter ID requirements.
That must be bad news for Vice President Joe Biden, who claimed last month that voter identification rules in North Carolina, Alabama and Texas had roots in Southern racism.
“These guys never go away. Hatred never, never goes away,” Biden said at a Black History Month reception held at the Naval Observatory. “The zealotry of those who wish to limit the franchise cannot be smothered by reason.”
Supporters of voter proof of citizenship laws celebrated earlier this month when a Federal judge in Kansas ruled that Federal election authorities must comply with State voter ID mandates in Kansas and Arizona. The decision, based on a Supreme Court ruling last summer allowing States to require proof of citizenship in State and local elections, served to embolden other States with tough voter ID laws.
Also from Rasmussen: “Thirty-four percent (34%) think it is more common that people are prevented from voting who should be allowed to vote. Half (50%) of voters disagree and think that more often people are allowed to vote who are not eligible to vote.”
Of course, the left maintains that voter ID laws are simply indicative of rampant racism and that voter fraud doesn’t exist.
MSNBC host Joy Reid interviewed South Carolina Republican Party Chair Katon Dawson on Monday, suggesting that the GOP’s focus on voter ID laws couldn’t possibly related to attempts to quell voter fraud.
“There have been a lot of studies on this,” Reid said. “There are a lot of studies that show, literally, you’re more likely to be beamed up into a UFO or struck by lightning than find in-person voter fraud.”
“Why is it your party seems fixated on trying to go after early voting?” the MSNBC host continued. “Trying to go after, you know, forcing people to bring a birth certificate — all things that just happen to impact minorities and people who tend to vote for the Democratic Party?”
Dawson replied with a bit of common sense, a rare feature on MSNBC.
“I had to show a voter ID to get into the studio today, to buy whiskey last week. To do a lot of things that are simple,” he said. “I think it becomes disingenuous for the argument and the integrity of the process, for someone to be ‘obstructed’ by having to acquire an ID for something to prove where they live.”
He also added that local and State elections with lower voter turnout can be immensely affected by even isolated incidences of voter fraud.

The Voting Dead: These States Have More Registered Voters Than Eligible

IN NEWS, OPINION / BY DOM THE CONSERVATIVE / ON MARCH 25, 2014 AT 12:55 PM /

When it comes to the 2012 re-election of President Barack Obama, there is no shortage of voter fraud jokes, but many aren’t laughing after a recent conservative watchdog group’s analysis reveals a big problem among states with an abnormal amount of fraudulent voters.
Iowa and Colorado, two major, political battleground states are found to have more registered voters than they have adults 18 and older living in the state.
Washington D.C. has the same issue, and is scheduled to hold a primary in its mayoral election next week, according toTheBlaze.
Judicial Watch is threatening legal action against Colorado and Iowa if immediate steps aren’t taken to remove dead voters, voters who’ve moved away, and intelligible voters from the voter rolls, as per the Motor Voter Law of 1993.
“Specifically, we ask you to: 1) conduct or implement systemic, uniform, nondiscriminatory program to remove from the list of eligible voters the names of persons who have become ineligible to vote by reason of change in residence,” the letter says, “2) complete this program no less than 90 days prior to the November election; 3) conduct or implement additional routine measures to remove from the list of eligible voters the names of persons who have become ineligible to vote by reasons of death, change in residence, or a disqualifying criminal conviction, and to remove non-citizens who have registered to vote unlawfully.”
Robert D. Popper, former deputy chief of the voting section within the Justice Department’s civil rights division, said he was part of five lawsuits during the Bush administration over allegations of improper voter list maintenance since he was hired in 2005, TheBlaze reported.
“In the six years of the Obama administration, there’s been not a single lawsuit,” Popper, now a senior attorney for Judicial Watch, told reporters in Washington on Monday.
“There has been to my knowledge a demonstrated lack of interest in the Justice Department in pursuing these lawsuits,” Popper said. “In fact, the one claim that had anything to do with this list maintenance coming out of this Justice Department concerned the lawsuit that it commenced and then lost in which it tried to force the state of Florida to stop removing non-citizens who are on the voter rolls in the run up to the 2012 elections. Other than that, the Obama administration has no interest in pursuing Section 8 lawsuits.”
Earlier this month, Judicial Watch also sent letters to California, New Mexico, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois notifying them of “apparent problems” and asking these states to provide records of steps taken to assure the accuracy of the voter lists.
