    So.. What are ALIPAC's goals?

    From reading posts on these forums, i've noticed that:

    ALIPAC is against:

    - All forms of continuing illegal immigration;
    - Any form of "guest worker" program or the like;
    - Any form of "amnesty"; or providing legal status for illegal aliens already residing in the country;

    and ALIPAC is for:
    - Strictly applying all existing immigration laws while tightening as needed;
    - Deportation of all illegal aliens;

    and from the title, "Americans for legal immigration",

    - ONLY legal means of immigration allowed.

    ALIPAC also opposes:

    - H1-B/L1 etc, or, temporary, "dual intent" visa programs that are supposed to bring in highly skilled workers; not only opposing their exploitation and loopholes in the law, but putting an end to the programs themselves;

    - "Family reunification" as a path to legal immigration.

    and in one specific post, ALIPAC also supports a "moratorium" on all immigration.

    So how does ALIPAC support "Legal immigration", while nearly opposing all legal venues? Is it a play on words simply for PR? or am I mistaking the posts of various members as a general ALIPAC objective?

    Guess that's PLAIN ENGLISH enough for anyone to understand, yes?

    LEGAL IMMIGRATION
    What is it about the words, "legal" & "Immigration" that is difficult to understand?

    Not ILLEGAL ALIENS being allowed to BREAK THE RULE OF LAW and then given a pass.
    That would be AMNESTY by any other name and not Legal Immigration.

    BTW, I'm sure that most of our members are already up to speed on the anger rising in the Legal Immigrant community over the ILLEGAL ALIENS and their blatant law breaking, correct? Their blatant disrespect for our country and our sovereignty, correct? Their blatant cutting in line, correct?

    Legal Immigrants have worked hard, followed the rules, sacrificed to become Americans. They've not sucked at the American teet for entitlements & freebies. Nope, Legal Immigrants, for the most part, are an integral part of American society as they desire to assimilate and participate in building America.

    Actually, Alipac supports legal immigration.

    America already has a guestworker program, it’s called visa holders. The problem with visas is that they are currently being abused. In my opinion, allowing unlimited family members is unacceptable. Including the gangsters in your family. Visa holder's spouses having anchor babies. Sham marriages to visa holders. Visa holders going out of status and becoming illegal aliens, at a very high percentage. Visa holders sponsoring whole villages. Visa holders doing what they damn well please once they get here. Don’t get me wrong, some are respectful participants in our guest worker programs but many are not.

    Until American can control the bad apples, we shouldn’t make it easier for them.

    Moratorium on increasing visas or immigration quotas until we have secured the boarder, sealed the birthright citizenship and developed a way of dealing with overstays.

    America does not need to increase the population with immigrants. Americans are still having children. Unless we all become sterile, that's no excuse for unrestricted immigration. Even if half of us die off, that's not an excuse for unrestricted immigration. Even if the rest of the world says we should throw the doors open, it's none of their damn business and not their concern. So butt out!

    The US invites more people, than any other country to become citizens and we don't need to exceed that. We are already do more than other countries.

    Currently, America is in desperate need of enforcement overhaul, not reforming the entry of immigrants. We need to stop the bleeding first and before we start making changes to immigrant entry policy.

    Our posting rules are at http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=F ... ic&t=26071

    We have quite a few naturalized citizens who came here the right way: did the paperwork and waited for their turn.

    That's what the USA is about. Doing things the right way. No jumping in line.

    Neodyne, in answer to your question, I am personally not opposed to legal immigration per se. However, I am opposed to legal immigration when it is being abused either by people overstaying their visas and then never leaving, or more importantly, when our federal government allows such high levels of legal immigration that it becomes a means of driving down wages for American citizens or putting people out of jobs. As things stand now, corporations are calling the shots and dictating what is best for them, not what is best for this country or its citizens. This has been the case with the H1B program and other visa programs. The American people should be able to determine what is in their best interest when it comes to immigration policy - this should not be left up to corporations who only want cheap labor and are driven only by their profit margins. Period.

    In addition, we take in 2 million people per year, the highest immigration rate of any country on the planet. We have limited resources, limited space, and had sufficiently controlled our birth rate to acheve a fairly stable population, but our population growth is now so far out of control that it will increase by another 100 million in the next few decades - all driven by immigration. This is unacceptable.

    Agreed Kate.

    And, as a reminder, we must not forget that approx. 35%-40% of all aliens that are in the US illegally entered initially via legal means (Work Visa, Student Visa, Tourist Visa, etc) - but then failed to exit later as required.

    The overstayers and absconders are a big, big problem - especially when these people continue to work in fields where Americans could and otherwise should be doing those jobs.

    neodyn55,

    My involvement in the ALIPAC discussion boards stems from the fact that I, as an American Citizen, married a Filipino national, who then waited in line for several years stricly following the rules to immigrate legally while at the same time our federal government has in practice allowed a million or so illegal aliens enter the country yearly and done little to remove those who did so. This is very personal to me, my wife, and our children. I am as pro-immigrant as anyone, anywhere. But rest assured I am frustrated as hell with illegal immigration.

    The way I see it, immigration needs to be carefully regulated, both for the benefit of current citizens and legal residents of the United States and for the benefit of potential immigrants, legal guest workers, visiting students and other visa holders. In principal, I am not opposed to a guest worker program as long as it can be clearly demonstrated that their truly are no American workers available or willing to do the work at a fair wage.
    But if guest workers, and a flood of permanent immigrants are going to be allowed into the country to placate elite economic interests that are seeking an endless supply of cheap, exploitable labor, that harms everyone, American workers and families and in the long run it also harms the guest workers and immigrants. This increasingly transparent effort on the part of the economic and political elite to suppress wages may create the same type of third world economy right here in the United States that so many immigrants and illegal aliens have fled from in their homelands.

    As to legalization of the illegal. Under any formula that would allow illegal aliens to remain in the US, or to participate in the ludicrous "touch-back" proposal now being proposed, it is still in effect an amnesty and is inherently unfair to those immigrants who have followed the rules and come here legally or are waiting in line to come legally. The proponents of all these legalization schemes claim that the illegals would have to go to the back of the immigration line. That is not so. In effect, they are still allowed to live in the US, work in the US, send there kids to public school in the US, receive public benefits in the US. They would be requred under most proposals to wait in line for permanent legal status and citizenship by naturalization if they wanted it, but they are forgiven for breaking the laws and forcing their way to the front of the line for residency in the US. There they remain ahead of those who have followed the rules. Is that justice? Is that fair?

    I hope this is a honest question so here is an honest answer.
    I support ALIPAC because they support America and the American way of life.
    I am a first generation American and my family came here legally, in fact my father served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
    I served as a US Marine in Nam.
    I love America and what it stands for but I still enjoy my heritage and family history, there's nothing wrong in that.
    I've been to Scottish Highland games and cinco de mayo BBQ's. I speak quite a bit of spanish and gaelic and even own a kilt of my family tartan. I have friends on both sides of the border and have helped train Mexican firefighters.
    I will help anyone that needs it but first and foremost I am an American!
    My country comes first and I will stand by what I believe to be right.
