    NEWS FROM SEN. CORNYN'S OFFICE

I was calling all of my state senators and then called Senator Cornyn's Office and spoke with Jonathan. He decided to elaborate on the bill. He said the bill does not increase but uses those H1B VISAS that have not been used in the past two yrs. He went on to say we do not have enough engineers to compete in a global economy. He went back to 2001 and only 8% highly skilled.

I pointed out there should be sunshine on the methods the companies are using to hire Americans before foreign skilled workers. He said this bill would do that.

Anyway, any of you that are more informed on the matter may want to call this office and speak with Jonathan to hear the talking points from Sen. Cornyn's Office.

This is PROPAGANDA - the Skil bill will double H1B visas and can adjust with the market to bring in more if deemed 'necessary' by Microsoft.

Did you mean by this that someone at Cornyn's office said not to worry, it's not that bad? Then that means the sky is falling and we'd better be scared. It also means they are feeling the heat if they are taking the trouble to lie.

    It's a sham.

America does not have a shortage of high-tech workers. It's that they don't come cheep.

Second, from what I understand the HB-1 class is also eligible for the unskilled class of visas, of which they have been taking as well. Therefore, the illegal alien supporters are upset because the unskilled, uneducated people that have nothing to offer America are not being allowed in with a visa. They believe if you raise the HB-1 class, it will open the door for the least desirable immigrants and most likely to be social welfare recipients.

Ask Sen. Cornyn to furnish you with information from the Dept. of Labor and Stats. what unskilled labor is needed. They can't do it.

Ask Sen. Cornyn what they have been doing to encourage American(s) students through incentives, to fill the future needs. We can get them out of college in 2-4 years. Have they been giving away grants and scholarships? Have the created advanced placement programs in high schools, which are geared towards those career fields that are lacking in "skilled labor"?

I understand it is Microsoft that was one of the companies pushing for the increase. Tell me, after all of the dot com failures that we don't have a surplus of people with computer science and engineering degrees floating around. I bet there are still empty offices in the Silicon Valley. I know some people down here in TX Gates can hire but he needs to come down here an look for them and re-locate them.

I think it is becoming clear Senator Cornyn's time as Texas Senator needs to come to a close. Dixie, Crocket, any other Texans, do you have a candidate in mind to counter Cornyn for his nomination? We need to cut him off at the Republican convention in 2008. If he wins the nomination, he'll win the office.

I agree it is all complete and utter BS! If they are unused they didn't need them and should be expired. Why do we need so many in the first place? Are we not producing enough competent workers? Is this really a good thing for America?

    This idea that just because,

    A. It is "good" for the economy or
    B. It is supposed to be good for the economy

Doesn't always mean it is good for America. Also, just because it is good for profits doesn't necessarily mean it is good for America. If these greedy companies don't really give a damn about America or American soverignty then they can leave or shut down or go to hell. Including Microsoft. It ain't for sale!

GeorgiaPeach, I tried to call Cornyn's office twice - the first time, I got cut off- the line disconnected before I could even speak with a person, and the second time, I got an a voicemail type thing that had no option for leaving a message. Maybe they are getting so slammed they are no longer answering the phones! Thanks for calling!
