JASCE, Poland (AP) — Poland's security services have begun their first major security exercise in decades, evacuating the Interior Ministry in Warsaw and rescuing three foreigners allegedly injured in a helicopter crash.

The three-day exercise that began Wednesday involves Poland's police, armed forces, firefighters and border guards.
It's being held at a time of conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which both border Poland.

The goal is to test Poland's reaction to emergencies and identify areas that need improvement. In 30 different scenarios, the services will be dealing with, among other things, renegade aircraft and radioactive threats.

In the scenario in Jasce, a helicopter illegally crossed into Poland and crashed in the woods, injuring three people.

In another security move Wednesday, a U.S. troop detachment is to arrive for an exercise in northwestern Poland.
