Boxer says H.R. 662 under consideration for E-Verify

Do you really think this bill will ever make it to the Senate?

    -------------------------------------------

    Dear---------:

Thank you for contacting me about E-Verify, the electronic verification program for foreign workers. I appreciate hearing from you on this important matter.

E-Verify is designed to verify the eligibility of foreign job applicants to work in the United States. The House of Representatives is currently considering H.R.662, which would reauthorize the E-Verify program for five years.

Should this or similar legislation come before the Senate, be assured that I will keep your views in mind.

Again, thank you for writing to me. Please feel free to contact me in the future about this or any other issue of concern to you.

What, so Obama can just jump up and wave his magic hand and suspend the useage of the E-Verify program so he can determine if it's going to harm masses of people because of "errors".

What Boxer failed to mention was that there would probably be stipulations that will come along with the E-Verify. Yep, E-Verify could be used as a bargaining tool.

The House of Representatives passed the reauthorization of E-Verify for five years last year, but Sen. Menendez (D-NJ) held it up in committee in the Senate by insisting that its passage be tied to authorizing an additional 500,000 legal visas each year!

I am beginning to think that the House has a lot more brains than the Senate. And I think that the Senate thinks themselves an elite club (The House of Lords) pandering to their closest corporate buddies, and look at the House as the House of Commons, doing stupid things like representing their constituents.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's brains. I think 'fear of the voter' tends to have a much larger impact on House Rep's. Someone who faces their constituents every two years, compared to six years for a Senator, is naturally going to be more in tune with their constituency.

I also got a reply from Boxer as follows:

    Dear ________:

Thank you for writing to me about illegal immigration and the need for improved enforcement of our immigration laws. I appreciate hearing your views on this important matter.

I am committed to strengthening our government's ability to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws.

In the last Congress I was proud to be an original co-sponsor of S.2587, the SCAAP (State Criminal Alien Assistance Program) Reimbursement Protection Act, and S.2588, the Ensure Timely SCAAP Reimbursement Act. I have long been a strong supporter of SCAAP, which was established to reimburse states and localities for certain costs associated with incarcerating illegal immigrants.

I am also working to strengthen the enforcement of our immigration laws through an overhaul of our failing immigration system. In the last Congress, the Senate considered a bill to reform America's immigration system. After weeks of negotiations and debate, the Senate voted against moving the bill forward. In the current Congress, S.9 has been introduced in order to begin the discussion on how to reform an immigration system that everyone agrees is broken.

I believe our immigration problems will only get worse unless we work together to resolve them. Be assured that I will continue to fight to improve our immigration system in a manner that strengthens our border security, reduces illegal immigration, and protects American workers in this time of economic uncertainty.

Again, thank you for writing to me. Please feel free to contact me again about this or any other issue of concern to you.

You know, there could be so much good use for E-verify.

This could be used as a tool to make dead dads and moms pay thier child support.
