Trump-endorsed Republican Byron Donalds won the Florida Governor race on Tuesday night.

Donalds defeated Democrat David Jolly.

Byron Donalds has made history as Florida’s first black governor.

Byron Donalds served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, Donalds won the election for Florida’s 19th Congressional District.

Donalds lives in Naples, Florida, with his wife and their three sons.

Donalds led the effort to enact Hope Scholarships that empowered parents with school choice and passed a first-in-the-nation bill to that allowed parents and community members to review instructional materials in schools. Donalds chaired the prominent House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee, working to strengthen the state’s economy and make Florida more affordable. Governor Rick Scott also appointed Byron to the Board of Trustees for Florida South Western State College,” Donalds boasted on his campaign website.
