They are going to debate the farm bill now, and then vote on it at 2 pm today.

I think what was passed was an amendment for $162 billion.

Farm bill debate is up next.

I've called Sen Burr's office for clarification. It does appear that the Iraq funding bill did pass with 70 yeas, but I do not know if the Mikluski amendment remained in.

    Clarification from Dole's office:

The entire bill has not been voted on. Just a series of amendments. Entire bill may be voted on before Memorial Day recess Friday, but uncertain. No clarification if Mikulski's amendment remains viable or not.

    Hmmm...

Senator Dole's office just told me the war bill hasn't been voted on yet. Only amendments, but wasn't sure if the visa increase amendment had been voted on yet.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Republicans have broken with President Bush to help Democrats add help for veterans and the unemployed to a bill paying for another year of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

The bill, passed Thursday afternoon by a 70-26 vote, also adds billions of dollars in other domestic funds such as heating subsidies for the poor and money for fighting wildfires to the $165 billion for the military operations overseas.

The vote is a rebuke to Bush, who has promised to veto the measure if it contains the domestic measures. However, the president still has enough GOP support to sustain a veto.

The House still has to act on the bill. Last week, the House voted to

OK now we need to find out if the H-2B visa's were removed
