Gov. Richardson's stance on Elvira Arellano.

Received this through snail-mail today. The letter was in response to one I sent to Gov. Richardson regarding his support of Elvira Arellano:

    State of New Mexico
    Office of the Governor
    December 4, 2006

    Mr. XXXXX XXXX
    XXXX XXXXX XXXXX
    XXXXXXXX, North Carolina 27562

    Dear Mr. XXXXX:

Thank you for your note concerning seven-year old American citizen and Chicago resident Saul Arellano and his mother, Mrs. Elvira Arellano.

Governor Richardson has taken a very strong stance on border security, declaring a border emergency to free up $1.75 million for border counties and local governments to hire approximately 10 additional law enforcement officers and purchase approximately 10 additional vehicles. These efforts have resulted in incrased drug arrests, more undocumented immigrants caught and an approximately 80 percent reduction in crime in the Village of Columbus, New Mexico alone. Governor Richardson has also repeatedly requested more Border Patrol Agents from the federal government.

The Governor has long advocated for sensible, fair changes to our immigration laws; updates that include tougher border security and closing the border to illegal immigrants and drugs, and penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. However, because of a failure of federal immigration policy, the Governor believes we need a practical and sensible way to deal with the 12 million illegals already here. He supports a realistic path to legalization for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants already here. This is not (the letter bolded the word not) amnesty, it is a way to draw those already here out of the shadows and offer them legal status in exchange for their good behavior, payment of back taxes and fines for their illegal entry, and their learning English, as well as other specific requirements.

Unless our attempts to tackle the immigration problem is comprehensive, it will not work. The Arellano case puts a spotlight on the danger of not acting on a comprehensive immigration plan. Inaction puts our most vulnerable citizens - the estimated three million American children of illegal immigrants - at risk.

If Mrs. Arellano is deported from the United States, she and her young son will be left with a terrible choice. Saul will either be torn apart from his mother at a young age, or he will be torn apart from his native land and forced to forfeit his right as a citizen to grow up an American.

    Sincerely,

Leaving here won't make him forfeit his citizenship if he goes back to Mexico with his mom. Unless Mexico forbids dual citizenship. He shouldn't have citizenship as it is but as it is he's a minor and not legally able to make that decision. I never realized citizenship ment you had to grow-up here. What about children on Army bases and such or children of missionaries and such? How many children were left in Mexico while their parents came here? I mean please.......this just doesn't wash.

I thought the "Arellano case" put the spotlight on the danger of NOT ENFORCING the current immigration laws?

So if sympathizer Richardson is so worried about splitting families:

WHY ISN'T HE WORKING ON A COMMITTEE TO CHANGE THE 14TH AMMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION GRANTING CITIZENSHIP TO ANCHOR BABIES?

I sent an email. Got the exact form letter as MW.

I think this is a do or die issue for the OBL types.
Must be an issue that would push millions of votes
away from the party with the courage to enforce our
    laws.

I guess Richardson is also so pleased that Elvira and Saul are totally mooching off of others and they are NOT productively contributing anything to a society they weren't entitled to be part of in the first place.

P.S. where did he get this "Mrs." crap from anyway. She's a single mother!

I think that we need to set up an "illegal fund". Any US citizen that has any sympathy for these people can "adopt" an illegal(s) and take care of them financially and legally for the rest of their life, including court costs etc...and if they commit a crime, the "adopter" also has to spend time in prison. Until the bleeding hearts take full responsibility for the situation, it will never be resolved.

I got email from Chris Simcox the other day regarding Elvira Arellano. If any of you are also members of MCDC you're probably already aware he's encouraging a letter writing campaign to question 1)why DHS/ICE haven't arrested her and 2) why Rev. Coleman of the Adalberto United Methodist Church hasn't been arrested for aiding and abetting an illegal alien and fugitive. We all know the open borders crowd are hoping to set a legal precedence with this woman's son! Richardson along with the rest of the open borders bunch will fail if we prevail!

I wrote and sent mine today. If any of you are interested here's the address to send your letters to:

    U. S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald
    Special Counsel Northern Illinois
    Washington Office:
    Bond Federal Building
1400 New York Avenue, NW, Ninth Floor
    Washington D. C. 20530

We know there is power in numbers and this illegal manipulator shouldn't be allowed to stay in this country no matter what. We as citizens would be prosecuted and probably imprisoned for what she's done.

Saw Richardson on Dobbs last night (re-brodcast?) & it was a
carefully crafted statement about Arellano. Clear to those who
want open borders that he's their man & not overt enough to
    wake anyone up who's asleep.
