STRICKLAND: Being illegal gets better and better

It's been a grand month for illegal immigrants thanks to Gov. Binky, the politician who claims to have learned sooooo much since his last stint as governor.

Gee, sorry, gotta repeat nursery school.

In a one-two punch, first he signed the Dream Act, which gives away our public money to illegal immigrants so they can go to college for free while hardworking citizens try to scrape together enough cash for their kids to attend the next semester at a community college.

Then last week, he signed Assembly Bill 1236, which prohibits municipalities and local special districts from using, except where required by federal law or if the applicant is applying for a government job, E-Verify to determine whether the applicant is eligible legally to work in this country.

As of August, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows only Nevada outranks California in the severity of its unemployment rate.

A portion of the bill says, "The state must pursue all avenues in facilitating and incubating job development and economic growth."

And AB 1236 does this how?

Although it only affects private companies doing business with the state or any of its smaller governing bodies, one can presume that if Company A is not allowed to do it, then Company B, which could, is likely to say "fahgeddaboutit."

Among municipalities in Southern California that would be affected are Escondido, Lake Elsinore, Hemet, Menifee, Murrieta, Riverside, Temecula and Wildomar, not to mention San Bernardino County.

It appears Gov. Jerry Brown, pardon, Binky thinks that if we can just get all the illegal immigrants in college and the rest on payrolls at the expense of our poor students and unemployed citizens and legal residents, then we'll all be just fine.

Surely the illegal immigrants will impart their knowledge, as they see it, to our youths and share generously their paychecks with the jobless citizens and legal residents standing on the corners begging for a day's work.

Of course they will.
