Illegal immigrants should be deported

This is in response to the long, very sympathetic article in the paper, Aug. 25, regarding the shattered lives of the forced returns of illegal Mexicans to Mexico. It leaves me feeling sad for California.

The Border Patrol is doing the job they were hired to do — thank God. The official attitude has been so lax for so long that the California economy is going broke supporting the illegal population. The overload at San Joaquin General Hospital and the extra costs of education from preschool through college are causing a shortage of school space and money; examples consist of unaffordable school bus services and lack of extra space for gifted children along with providing many other services.

The poor working-class taxpayer would be happy to have one of those construction worker, farm or nanny jobs when they find themselves unemployed due to their company relocating to Mexico or China or wherever, and they can't find work. We are in a slow economy with many unemployed U.S. Citizens.

Those who are illegal have no right to services or protection from deportation. They knew what they were doing was wrong when they came. They should prepare themselves to be returned.

In every case, California is better off without the ex-prisoners and gang members and the other illegal immigrants (returned 10,000 since 2006), even 16-year-old Paola Riveras who went to her illegal mother in Los Angeles. Her mother could go back to her and then both could get legal visas if they want to return.

I say bravo to the Border Patrol, keep up the good work.
