Tennessee seems to have several programs targeting the growing Hispanic population or more aptly put the desired growing Hispanic population. This is reflected in the USDA having a "Hispanic Emphasis" Program as well as the growers and grocers in TN seeking to have items appealing to a Hispanic customer base. I thought the part about history, culture, tradition etc. was interesting.

It would be good to contact the USDA and let them know they are a part of the United States and to question this housing building they are doing as well as the other catering to this particular group.

Hispanic Emphasis Program

The Tennessee Hispanic Special Emphasis Program has two main purposes. The first is to help our work force reflect the demographics of the U.S. population. This is done by assisting management with identifying highly qualified candidates and helping to identify and overcome barriers to hiring. This portion of the program also includes promotion, training, and career enhancement affecting Hispanic employees and applicants in NRCS. The second main focus of the program involves assisting our agency in delivery of services and programs to Hispanic customers. This involves providing booklets, pamphlets, and other technical and program information to field offices in order to better serve Hispanic customers. This also includes helping our employees learn about the history, customs, traditions, and cultural norms of Hispanic and Latino people.

The Hispanic Emphasis Program Manager in Tennessee is Paul McQuade, District Conservationist in Morristown. Paul can be reached at paul.mcquade@tn.usda.gov
