Border Patrol recruiting Minn. men and women
A team of federal recruiters are in the Twin Cities hoping to find men and women interested in joining the largest law enforcement agency in the country.
They're conducting a two-day recruiting event hoping to fill positions in U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.
On-site recruiters will provide assistance applying for jobs and offer test-taking tips. They can also share their experiences.
Anyone is welcome, but recruiters especially encourage people with a military background to apply. Veterans currently make up more than 25 percent of CBP's workforce.
To land the job, applicants must complete a written exam, an interview, a language aptitude test or a Spanish proficiency test, a physical test and a medical examination.
Training is provided and includes a 55-day academy training program.
Border Patrol recruits earn between $36,000 and $46,000 in their first year, with the potential of earning up to $70,000 per year within three years of service.
The recruiting event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 16 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 17 at the Embassy Suites - Minneapolis Airport in Bloomington.
For more information call (877) 277-9527 or apply online at http://www.borderpatrol.gov, recruitment code SGFT.
