We’re going to get a bizarre sight in Chicago on Saturday, and quite possibly one in Joliet as well.

Federal officials who are pushing for reform of the nation’s immigration laws to something more realistic and appreciative of the fact that these newcomers make a significant contribution to the nation have been holding rallies across the nation – billing it as a tour, of sorts, for immigration reform.

THAT TOUR IS now in Chicago. Catholic churches on the North Side and in Joliet will be the site of events in which people will speak out in favor of federal policies that do not deliberately split families up.

The event in Chicago proper will be at Our Lady of Mercy Church, and Cardinal Francis George himself will take it upon himself to speak out on the matter. His aides told the Chicago Tribune that the Cardinal will ask for “compassionate, comprehensive immigration reform.â€

The Catholic church is engaging in Christian Communism......look it up, Tejeda, you think you know so much .........and this particular native-born citizen of the US who stopped going to the Catholic church a long time ago because of it, doesn't like THAT.

All the illegal alien hispanics think they're soooooo special, the "chosen people" to be favored over all others by the church? I've got news for ya.........

The Catholic Church is all about money and power. They know the majority of illegals are Catholic so they welcome the opportunities to expand their church and make money.

I can not speak about other religions but I do know that any Christian church that supports illegals is going against God's word because the bible does not teacher its followers to support liars, thieves and criminals. And too, the bible gives very clear instructions about paying taxes and following the laws of guest nations.

Christians are told to love the sinner not the sin, so that while Christians may love them as being part of humanity, Christians must not support the illegal sinners or they risk violating God’s law.

They particularly want an end to deportations that have the potential to split families (some of whose members are U.S. citizens), at least until a more sensible federal policy on immigration is developed.

WHICH IS WHY the nativists are all upset.

These illegal whiners are getting old......
I think American mom's with their husbands in prison should complain that prison breaks up families too!

EXACTLY!!! We need to enforce our laws already on the books!

HOW ELSE TO explain a comment one nitwit put on the Joliet Herald-News newspaper website, which said that one result of the 875 Empress Casinos employees being put out of work by the fire would be the return of 850 people to Mexico?

Sounds like the Americans have had it with illegals and their demands!

It's also about separation of church and state. Churches should not engage in trying to influence the politican process and if they do should be stripped of their tax free status.

If the church took the 'moral side', it would be against people who steal identities to steal jobs.

If the church took the 'moral side', it would be against people who refuse to give up their third-world ideas like child rape, distributing illegal drugs, driving drunk and a myriad of other things, when they come here!

If the church took the 'moral side', it would be against people who move here and separate themselves (RACISM) by refusing to learn our language and refusing to teach their children our language (Teaching RACISM to their children).

And the Catholic Church wonders why it is loosing parishioners????

I was across the street protesting in Chicago and the local people were not in attendance. They had to bus people in to hear this garbage. It seems to me that there isn't as much interest in the local communities if they have to bus people in.
