Some migrants, and many of their children, choose to assimilate into Americans’ society, often by embracing American-style names or Christianity.


When I grew up in the 60s and 70s, everyone had an American style name. That doesn't seem to apply now. Indians give their children Indian names, Muslims give their children Muslim names. Hispanics frequently give their children Spanish names. Even Blacks have come up with their own naming convention.
