These census people keep knocking at my door pissing me off. I don't want to give any info. to the Obama administration. Question. Can I get in trouble for not filling this info. out?

I think it has to be a face to face refusal. For instance, if you are never home when they come by, that is not a refusal. You cant help it if they come by when you are not there. I think you can be fined but I dont know if that has actually ever happened. You might be interested to know that someone introduced a bill (HR 3131) that if passed will mean there can be no penalty for not answering almost all of the questions on the American Community Survey. I think it will reduce it to just name, and number of people in a household. I dont know why they need a name to do a headcount. It should be sufficient to just get a number.

When they came knocking at my door, I explained my feelings and let them know that I had read the law. The only information I gave was basically, name, age and whether I owned or rented and that I was an American citizen. That is all that is required.

Some people just filled in the number of people in the home.

I only answered the Constitutional required number as to how many people live at this address and so far no tax payer funded federal employees have knocked at our door. But we live away from town and down a 400 ft curved driveway off of a country road.
If and when one does show up, I will insist that they show me their constitutional right to ask such intrusive questions. They will not be able to do so and will be told that they are trespassing and to leave. If they hesitate, I will call the Sheriffs office!

I filled out the census forms completely mailed them in and then i got a letter saying i need to send in my census forms! LOL

Are they just taking my info and selling it or something?

I sent my forms in and I get a notice saying they recieved nothing!

it is required by law that every address must fill out a census so as to get a count of population, draw congressional districts at the federal and state level

Thank you guys very much for your posts. I do not like intrusive govt. And them knocking on my door is intrusive.

So...since it is the law, that means the illegal felons will fill it out also? I think not!

I doubt it, since they don't even enforce immigration laws.
