"But Mr. Chertoff warned 'you will continue to see heart-wrenching examples of families being pulled apart' as he enforces existing laws." ----Washington Times

Can someone explain to this guy that we're a "law enforcement" agency. As with any "law enforcement" agency, there are unfortunate examples of people being put in jail, and people being "pulled apart" from their families because they have chosen to break the law. Let's go a step further Secretary Chertoff, and decry all those who are jailed for drug offenses, for robbing banks, for DUI, and for other "unfortunate" violations of our laws. After all, many of them are just trying to "better themselves", and who can blame them for not letting a "law" or two get in their way? Maybe we should just start ignoring our laws altogether so nobody is "pulled apart" from their families. Unfortunately, this is our "leader" who also happens to sound a lot like an illegal alien apologist. Is it just us, or does he sound reluctant to enforce the laws? In any "law enforcement" job there is the daily reality that you are taking actions against people who would rather you just go away. We listen to them every day ("let us go, officer", "we just want to work", "we're poor", etc.) Sometimes they deserve compassion, and sometimes they don't, but we don't have the luxury of deciding who can break the law and who can't. We're sworn to enforce the laws Mr. Chertoff. It's our job. If we don't, we run into this little problem called "dereliction of duty" here in the real world, and we get fired (we're held to a much higher set of standards than you and many of your management team are held to).

It's great to have our "leader" apologizing to the American people for the terrible things we do everyday though ("I'm so sorry that my agents are.....gasp........enforcing the laws America").
Can someone please send us a real leader?
