To Steak n Shake Greater Chicagoland Regional Manager Donald Obara, and the Management of Steak and Shake Glendale Heights and Elk Grove Village:
Our group, Immigrant Solidarity Dupage, is deeply concerned having been informed that several Latino employees with seniority are on the verge of being terminated from your restaurant. One of the workers scheduled to be laid off is Margarita Ocampo of Glendale Heights who works on the production line at your franchise. Margarita is a mother and grandmother who has seniority having been at your restaurant for sometime working on the production line and has reached out to us fearing possible firing. Another of the workers is Rocio Rodriguez from the Elk Grove Franchise, also a mother and grandmother. Our group, the largest Pro-Latino advocacy group in Dupage County---a coalition of community leaders, elected officials, attorneys, clergy members and members of the press-- actively watchdogs the rights and dignity of Latino workers and their families in the Dupage area and western Cook County area and is alarmed by these developments--that is the firing
of Latino workers with seniority in times of joblessness and economic crisis.
