Chris Christie Scandals Bring Progressive Democrats and Conservative Republicans Toge

Chris Christie Scandals Bring Progressive Democrats and Conservative Republicans Together as Last

Posted By Ed Wood on Jan 22, 2014 in Articles, Corruption, Politics | 5 Comments

Let me say right at the beginning, I don’t really care for Chris Christie, or his politics. If he is the best the Republicans have to offer in the upcoming presidential election, Heaven help us. Which, of course, is what makes Governor Chris Christie’s current struggle for survival an example of politics at its finest!

Unless you have been living on some other planet, you know it was recently discovered that some time last year Governor Christie’s deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, ordered the closing of an approach to the George Washington Bridge into New York City. It caused a massive traffic back-up, for which they thought Mark Sokolich, the Democrat mayor of Fort Lee, NJ would be blamed. Upon the discovery that Ms. Kelly had issued the directive, Governor Christie, in a dramatic 110-minute news conference, claimed he didn’t know anything about it, fired Ms. Kelly on the spot, and requested a meeting with Ft. Lee Mayor Sokolich to apologize. Mr. Sokolich, in true political fashion, refused to see the Governor.

Herein lies the problem: There are plenty of reasons why no self-respecting Conservatives (sometimes called Republicans) would want Governor Christie as their 2016 presidential candidate. For instance, his support of:

    • Immigration amnesty.
    • Global warming.
    • Minimum wage increase.

He champions these, and many other “Progressive” issues. Not exactly the positions that would make him dear to the hearts of outside-the-beltway Republicans.

One might think the Demos and the mainstream media would love to have this type of Progressive candidate as their Republican opponent, since the last two elections have shown his kind to be the easiest to defeat. But they smell Christie blood in the water, and just can’t resist the temptation to take advantage of it while they have the chance.

Democrat Dawn Zimmer, mayor of Hoboken, NJ, has come forward to say that some time last year Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno confronted her in a parking lot with the warning that unless she became supportive of the Governor, Hurricane Sandy disaster relief aid for a Hoboken commercial development would be withheld. Again, Governor Christie says he knows nothing of the confrontation.

It’s a typical she-said-she-said, blonde vs brunette kind of thing.

Mayor Zimmer cites a notation in her personal diary as evidence that the confrontation did happen. The Lt. Governor has produced no such documentation. The developer of the project, New York City-based Rockefeller Group, said in a statement to msnbc: “We have no knowledge of any information pertaining to this allegation.”

Now you may wonder why “hurricane disaster relief” funds would be used to finance a big-city commercial development. But I guess that’s another story for another day. After all, it is New Jersey!

With the Benghazi and the IRS scandals safely behind him, Attorney General Eric Holder has launched a federal investigation into this story, the Bridgegate incident, and anything else he may be able to dig up on Governor Christie.

The Republican Party position is equally conflicted. They don’t know whether to fish, or just cut bait, as usual. Big city Republicans, such as Reince Preibus, Karl Rove, and even Rudy Giuliani, have all come to Christi’s aid. All except Jeb Bush, who, with presidential aspirations of his own, sees this as an opportunity to help Democrats dispose of Christy.

Conservative Republicans, the kind NY Governor Cuomo says are not welcome in his state, are standing by, letting the Democrats to their dirty work for them, and keeping their powder dry in support of candidates more to their liking.

We usually see the Democrats and Progressive Republicans (RINOS) teaming up against Conservatives. Now we have Conservative Republicans joining forces with the Demos rallying against a New Jersey type RINO.

    Great fun, huh?
