A thousands-strong caravan of people coming mostly from Central America and the Caribbean poured through America's southern border illegally on Christmas Day while tens of millions of Americans were opening presents and celebrating the holiday.
The group, which walked more than nine miles from the southern border city of Tapachula all the way to Alvaro Obregon, included entire families, single adults and everyone in between. Most of them were angry and frustrated at having to wait weeks or even months for the documents necessary to illegally invade America.
According to the Mexican government, it does not hand out the transit visas that many caravanners are demanding in order to board buses headed across the U.S. border. In the first 11 months of 2023, Mexico reports around 680,000 migrants from other countries passing through on their way to the United States.
The most recent caravan that arrived on Christmas Day reportedly included around 6,000 people. This is one of the largest caravans to illegally enter the U.S. since June 2022, not to mention that this one occurred right on Christmas Day.
Just like what happened with the June 2022 caravan, this latest one on Christmas occurred just a few days before U.S. officials were schedule to meet with their Mexican counterparts in Mexico City to figure out some kind of solution for the hundreds of thousands of migrants that continue to show up at the U.S. southwest border.

Mexico, U.S. agree to block more migrants from illegal entry

The migrant situation is spiraling so out of control that the leaders both of Mexico and the U.S. have agreed to work more closely on exploring new ways to try to deter all these migrants from crossing Mexico.
The U.S. government recently closed two vital railway border crossings in Texas, claiming they have been overwhelmed by the processing of illegals. This put a stop to much of the freight moving from Mexico to the U.S., which is spurring Mexico to do a better job of preventing caravanners from reaching the U.S. in order to eventually reopen these two critical international trade routes.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to attend the meeting in Mexico City. Other U.S. attendees include Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and White House homeland security adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall.
By the time the end of December arrives, some 10,000 illegal aliens are expected to have been arrested every single day at the southwest U.S. border. This crisis is at the heart of what the meeting will be about in Mexico City.
Back in May, Mexico agreed to take in some of the migrants from Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba who end up being turned away by the U.S. for failing to follow the rules that provide fresh legal pathways to asylum and other types of migration. So far, this effort by Mexico has had little impact in stemming the tide of illegal flow into the U.S.
Over the last two fiscal years, as defined by the U.S. government, an astounding four million illegal aliens have been arrested for trying to illegally enter America.
"These people must not be allowed to cross," one commenter wrote about the matter. "This country does not have the resources to care for them, and when we do we neglect the legal citizens of this country – especially its seniors, homeless veterans and poor."
"Many will probably die after they enter the U.S.," suggested another. "The free ride is rapidly deteriorating, and those needing free services will sicken and die."
