Labor Day, honoring America's workers, will hold little meaning for millions of unemployed Americans. With job outsourcing, NAFTA and 7 million illegal foreign workers, ours is a deteriorating economy and job market.
Seventeen states, including Indiana, have passed laws protecting workers from illegal labor only to face litigation by the federal government. By enforcing illegal immigration laws, President Barack Obama could free up millions of existing jobs for American workers. With 7 million illegal workers in the USA and it being a felony to hire them, what employers have been prosecuted? Insanity is litigation against sovereign states, not felons.
Obama's job creation plan is pending, yet rather than deporting he initiated granting work permits to illegal immigrants. Possible results: the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs. Shrewd political move, but another devastating blow to America's unemployed.
On Labor Day we should honor all American workers, employed and unemployed, and pray for better times.
