Giffords was shot along with members of her staff, according to Peter Michaels, news director of Arizona Public Media.

The Congresswoman is known for cracking down on illegal immigration, urging deployment of the National Guard and new technology to protect the Arizona border.

Before her election to Congress in 2006, the Arizona native served in the state legislature.

Her husband, Capt. Mark Kelly, is a Navy pilot, a Desert Storm veteran and an astronaut.

She was one of 20 vulnerable Democrats singled out by ex-GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin for defeat in the 2010 elections.

And yet wasn't she outspoken in being against the ARizona law? Also did she not support CIR ?

I'm getting some mixed signals on her but bottom line
This shouldn't happen to any elected rep or any person for that matter

I logged in to write that Gabrielle Giffords is Jewish. Plus with the mail explosions, most recently addressed to Janet Napolitano, there could be many other ideas behind this shooting.

She also wanted to increase the H-1B visas back to nearly 200K. She was pro-abortion. I wonder who did this? Lone nut maybe.
