Commuter train derails in southwestern Connecticut

(CNN) -- A Metro-North commuter train derailed Friday evening in southwestern Connecticut, police said.
The train derailed along the system's Fairfield/Bridgeport line.
Fairfield, Connecticut, police oficer Matthew Panilaitis said around 6:30 p.m. that police were heading to the scene. There was no immediate information on any injuries or damage.

At least 20 hurt in Connecticut train accident: police

(Reuters) - Some 20 to 25 people were injured on Friday in a train accident near Fairfield, Connecticut, a Fairfield Police spokesman said on Friday.

He said there were no known fatalities and none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.
