House to Consider FY08 Agriculture Appropriations Bill
This week the House of Representatives is set to debate H.R. 3161, the 2008 agriculture appropriations bill. Issues up for debate include food stamps, crop insurance, and commodities. The House may also consider country-of-origin labeling, as well as an amendment that would prohibit giving subsidies to farmers whose income exceeds $250,000.
Let Congress know what you think about the farm bill.

ALSO COMING UP IN CONGRESS
- Both the House and Senate to begin consideration of their versions of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)
- The House may vote on H.R. 2831, which would clarify when employees may sue for wage discrimination.
- The House could vote on the Agriculture and Defense appropriations bills
- The full Senate could consider a bill reauthorizing SCHIP
- Senate Banking Committee to hold hearing on oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Chairman Christopher Cox is scheduled to testify.
- Senate Armed Services Committee to hold confirmation hearing on Admiral Michael Mullen, who has been nominated by President Bush to become the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Admiral Mullen is currently the Chief of Naval Operations.
