Thread: Joseph and Mary were NOT immigrants, Catholic priests told

This past month, my Brazilian friend and I and other law-abiding Catholics--citizens and legal residents--have been reiterating to our Catholic priests that Joseph and Mary were NOT immigrants, they were travelling to their ANCESTRAL home of Judea to be COUNTED in a LEGAL CENSUS decreed by the Roman Emperor Augustus. There is NO connection between Joseph and Mary and immigrants, we pointed out, and surely NO connection with ILLEGAL aliens since Joseph and Mary were LAW-abiders, the illegals are NOT!

You are right joazinha. In those days there were no clearly defined borders, as those borders could change overnight when one tribe overran another. Even the Egyptians did not really care the absolute definition of their border, like we know ours today. It was a region of fluidly moving groups of people, perhaps in seach of water or grazing land for their people. Your priests should base their opinions on immigration on the society of the world during Mary and Joseph, not today's view of land ownership and not scream that there is a fallacy in today's lawfully defined borders in each country. After all, the Vatican was under Italian sovereignty until 1871 when it established its own borders.

Vortex I appreciate your support of Joazinha but both Palestine and Egypt were part of the Roman Empire and people could travel back and forth. Before Garibaldi Italy was divided between many kingdoms and in the Lazio the Pope besides being the religious leader he was also the head of the government.

Then they went back home. Mary and Joseph did NOT stick around and steal identities to steal jobs. They did NOT transport illegal drugs to destroy the lives of the people. They did NOT break into people's home and steal their posessions.

This is all in the Bible....I thought Catholic peiests read it. And George Bush says he reads the Bible every day. He must be a slow reader and hasn't got to that part yet.
