Illegal's don't want to become citizens
I'm starting to think this is more true than people (especially politicians) realise. They don't care about citizenship, they don't care about learning English, they don't care if they've broken any laws to do anything they've done. I believe they just live day to day saying I just want to earn some money, which will automatically be more than they'd get if they were in Mexico.
The heavy emphasis on "path to citizenship" is something made up by a faction of politicians who are out of touch with how these people live and think.
How often have you heard the standard talking point "They didn't do anything wrong, they were only working..." This is being said over and over again. It sounds like they truly believe they didn't do anything wrong, even though you and I know otherwise.
I heard a guy on a radio talk show this morning who works construction and works with illegals and he too said they don't have any interest in becoming citizens.Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...

I have traveled a lot and worked in many countires. In one week I learned more of the native language than these Conquestadors did/could in years of being here. You have no choice when you travel and it is normal to want to understand what people are saying. They just hate Gringo...nuff said.
I wonder if their IQ is too low to do this...Did the Spaniards breed them down? I always thought highly of the Aztecs and Mayans, but jeez.....one has to wonder.<div>"You know your country is dying when you have to make a distinction between what is moral and ethical, and what is legal." -- John De Armond</div>

a friend of mine moved to Paris -- he learned to speak French. Then he moved to Italy -- now he speaks Italian and he's only been living abroad for a couple of years now. He has worked overseas for years offshore, but still lived in the states during his off time. He has paid taxes in every country and never had the benefits of citizenship, he says these people are crazy.

I'm not sure you got my point. Teddy Kennedy and his ilk all talk about a "path to citizenship." This is aimed at illegals who've been her 5 years or more. They think that since they've stayed this long, they have a vested intrest in the USA.
They don't. They have a one track mind mentality about it. They say "I'm only working," because they don't care about anything else. (except maybe making babies or having a cerveza or two)Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...

You are correct. Their intentions aren't to become United States citizens. The object of Aztlan is to make YOU part of Mexico if you're lucky, or to force you back to Europe or die, if you are unlucky!

Mapwife: Good point. I think youmay be right. If Congress imposes fines, etc., they will not seek citizenship.

I agree.
This is very different than old days of immigrants wanting to become citizens and also retain their native culture. When you read the Latino leaders they are not talking about citizenship. They want and need unrest. Their agenda is the old worn out socialist state. Now that will fail as always, but I am afraid of the damage done while they try to make their new socialist order a reality. I am sure they laugh at Kennedy when he says path to citizenship. They don't want to be an integral part of this country..they want to tear it apart.
