Day Laborer Employer Information Blocked
I was poking around the internet and found this.
Day-Laborer Employer Information Blocked
August 21st, 2007
A San Diego County, California Superior Court judge has temporarily blocked the City of Vista from releasing the names, addresses and telephone numbers of private employers who have registered to hire day laborers. After a local anti-illegal immigration group requested the information under the California Public Records Act, the ACLU filed suit. The ACLU is arguing for privacy rights indicating that releasing such information could discourage private employers from hiring if their personal information was going to be released and thus postentially posted on the internet or used for harassment. The group requesting the information is the Vista Citizens Brigade which sometimes protests the hiring of day laborers at a shopping center in central Vista where men gather to wait for work.

I find it extremely interesting that other employment agencies are required to provide this information, yet it's an invasion of privacy for day labor centers. If these businesses weren't hiring illegal aliens, they would not object.

Kind of makes you wonder what else is being hidden at the hands of the ACLU.

What about the Freedom of Information Act. If the Day Labor Sites are put up by the government they may have access through that.
