I just got back from the Vallejo Gun Show yesterday.

It was by far the best thing we have done to get signatures for the Defend California initiative. It was also by far one of the best things that we have done to get the word out about the Golden Gate Minutemen. We have had members do interviews on the news over the last year that we have all been very proud of. For just plain hard work getting the word out, the gun show was awesome.

Nearly everyone seemed very enthusiastic about signing. That gave us the opportunity to introduce our group and hand out business cards and buttons.

I didn't get a grand total of signatures for the day but when I added up the completed forms we had 212 signatures. We also had maybe fifteen partially filled out forms going. We had people there from many counties. We kept busy shuffling threw the petitions looking for the correct county for people.

We handed out all of the business cards we had. We also handed out several hundred Golden Gate Minutemen buttons. One person said that he was from the east coast, sort of near Hazelton, and would be taking our buttons back there.

We have another group of members going in for the Sunday show this morning. They surge of shoppers should be hitting them just about now. I hope they have as much fun as we did yesterday. Yesterday I was a little worried how things were going to go after we got set up and set their waiting for the show to begin. It was a flood of people after the doors opened that didn't let up for the whole day. At the very end one of our neighbors across the isle covered his bench for the night and rushed over and was ready to sign.

We have been trying to help people in the surrounding areas of Northern California get their own groups started. We tried to get the word out but it is hard to say at this point what kind of success we will have along those lines. We have a group started in Redwood City and Castro Valley and rallies planed for the next two Saturdays to help rally support for them and get new members in the area. We would like to try what we did in the scouts as kids. Help groups of local friends and neighbors concerned with the illegal activity surround illegal immigration find each other and a place to meet. Then we would all be able to act in strength at troop functions. We offered many to do what we can or come out and help them get started ourselves or help them find others that would.

I think maybe all of the groups start out with one person in the beginning.

P.S. The petitions need to be in by February 20th. We are down to the wire.
