    DeMint On CNN Just Now

Wolfe Blitzer asked DeMint if the President had convinced him to change his mind. DeMint said no, he doesn't think there will be a signing party anytime soon.

Said Bush heard from a lot of Senators who said we need to take this slower and prove to the American people we can secure our borders first.

Said it was irrational to think the people would believe the enforcement part of the bill because there are already things in place that we are not doing and that's why the American people don't trust us.

Exactly - secure the freaking borders.

But we still oppose any form of amnesty for lawbreakers - amnesty means trillions of dollars of taxpayer funded benefits going to 30 million poor, uneducated immigrants plus 3X as many of their family members, plus hundreds of thousands of new "guest workers" each year. We will never, never, never survive such crushing costs.

We will not be duped this time around.

Yeah, really, and Idaho, too. Do you suppose Bush got the message? I would say he did and he's limping back to the White House to cry over it with Chertoff.

Never fear, our esteemed elected officials will simply raise taxes on the middle class to support thier new bloc of voters.

Well, I think we can safely assume from everything we are hearing today, that at least the Senators heard us, even if the President didn't. So, my thinking is, we need to hammer the White House with our insistance that we get enforcement of our immigration laws and security of our borders.

I'm not saying let up on Congress, but apparently we need to flood mailboxes and phone lines at the White House and let him get a little taste of what the Senators got.
