Yes, I know John McCain is a registered Republican. But in the video below he sounds like a slimy Democrat the way he attacks Ted Cruz over a political point he was making.

In his big CPAC speech, Ted Cruz said the following:

You want to lose elections? Stand for nothing. Look at the last four congressional elections, in ’06, ’08, ’10′, and ’12. In 3 of the four we followed that strategy. In ‘06, ‘08 and ‘12, we put our head down, we stood for nothing and we got walloped.

The one election that was a tremendous election was 2010, when Republicans drew a line in the sand. We said we stand unequivocally against Obamacare, against bankrupting the country, and we won an historic tidal wave of an election.

And of course then all of us remember President Dole, and President McCain, and President Romney. Now look those are good men, those are decent men — but when you don’t stand and draw a clear distinction, when you don’t stand for principle, Democrats celebrate.

McCain went on MSNBC today and said that Ted Cruz crossed a line and should apologize to Bob Dole:

He can say what he wants to about me, and he can say anything he wants to, I think, about Mitt – Mitt’s capable of taking it. But when he throws Bob Dole in there, I wonder if he thinks that Bob Dole stood for principle on that hilltop in Italy when he was so gravely wounded and left part of his body there fighting for our country?

This is why I said McCain sounds like a slimy Democrat because this is exactly what slimy Democrats do. McCain goes on MSNBC to attack Cruz and suggest that he doesn’t respect the military sacrifice that Dole gave for this country. How dare he!

Ted Cruz was not talking about Dole’s military service and McCain knows it. Cruz was talking about his political campaign for president. He was talking about the Republican Party.

Talk about crossing the line. This is another reason McCain has to go. He’s been hanging around and been chummy with Democrats for so long that he sound exactly like them. And he votes like them too.

Cruz’s comments draw fire from Dole, McCain

Posted by CNN Senior Producer Kevin Bohn

    Washington (CNN) –
Former Republican presidential nominees Bob Dole and John McCain are pushing back against Sen. Ted Cruz for comments he made Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
As Cruz was talking about how the Republican Party had not been successful in recent campaigns and what it needed to do to win, he said if “you want to lose elections, stand for nothing.”

Then noting in 2010 how Republicans had won the House back with its emphasis on opposition to Obamcare, the Texas Republican added “Of course, all of us remember President Dole and President McCain and President Romney. Now look those are good men, they’re decent men. But when you don’t stand and draw a clear distinction, when you don’t stand for principle, Democrats celebrate.”
Dole, the 1996 nominee, told CNN Friday that “Senator Cruz needs to check the record before passing judgment.”
McCain, the 2008 nominee, told MSNBC Friday that he asked Cruz to apologize to Dole. “I talked to him on the floor. I talked to him on the floor, and I said exactly what I'm telling you I said.”
“(Cruz) can say what he wants about me, and he can say anything he wants to,” McCain continued. “But when he throws Bob Dole in there, I wonder if he thinks that Bob Dole stood for principle on that hilltop in Italy when he was so gravely wounded and left part of his body there fighting for country,” McCain also said.
Cruz’s spokeswoman, Catherine Frazier, reacted to the calls for an apology.
“As he noted in his speech, the Senator greatly respects these men, particularly the heroic military service of Sens. Dole and McCain,” she said in a statement. “Suggesting anything otherwise is just an unnecessary distraction. He will not hesitate to talk about substantive matters of conservative principle that are important to bringing Republicans to victory – even if others may disagree.”

I guess the establishment republicans cant handle the truth! McCain should just be Hillary Clintons running mate and quite acting like he believes in conservative principles....
Give,em hell Cruz... Dole and McCain need to just go away already. Enough with the old guard corrupt politicians ...

Shots from Dole and McCain are gold among conservatives. I first voted for president in 1984, and Dole and McCain are the only two Republican presidential nominees I've ever voted against.

They ought to change from the elephant to the hippo...
I swear I think some of these guys are becoming the Hollywood of the east... Anything for attention and the more outrageous, the better... Dole and McCain lost not because they didn't stand for anything, but because the majority of people didn't think they liked WHAT they stood for. It really IS that simple. And you clowns think that you have a "messaging problem" when, what you actually have is a MESSAGE problem. People don't like what you DO stand for!
But hey, go ahead and tie up your current message in pretty ribbons and bows. Spend a lot of money seeing if it works. I think you're going to be disappointed, though....

You see Cruz, when you stand for what the gop does, its difficult to message it in a favorable light. Kinda like saying Satan's not so bad. That's their messaging problem they have, cancer is difficult to promote as a good thing.

What Did Ted Cruz Say at CPAC that Caused John McCain to go on Far-Left MSNBC Demanding He Apologize?

March 8, 2014 By Matthew Burke

Of course MSNBC, home of hosts who have a proclivity for foot-in-mouth disease, like former hosts Alec Baldwin, Martin Bashir, along with race-baiter Melissa Harris-Perry, would be thrilled that RINO John McCain would attack Constitution-loving Tea Party Senator Ted Cruz.

Appearing with Obama cheerleader, Andrea Mitchell (see video and full text of exchange below), McCain demanded that Cruz apologize for comments made in his CPAC speech on Thursday. Andrea Mitchell was so thrilled that McCain attacked Cruz, no doubt overjoyed that he’s just given the Marxist-friendly network material to rehash for the forseeable future, that she told him, “It meant a great deal to us.”

In his CPAC speech, Cruz outlined how Republicans can win. Cruz gave a history lesson to the crowd that “moderates” or RINOs (Republicans-In-Name-Only) like McCain abhor, but which highly resonated with the audience at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, and it needed to be said. Cruz told the audience to thunderous applause, “You want to lose elections, stand for nothing.”

Cruz pointed out that in elections where Republicans have a don’t rock the boat strategy, as they did in the 2006, 2008, and 2012 elections, they “got walloped.” He then, with tongue somewhat implanted in cheek, talks about those great “moderate” presidents Dole, McCain and Romney.

Here’s what Cruz said that so outraged McCain that he found it necessary to go on far-left MSNBC to demand Cruz’s apology (emphasis added):
“You want to lose elections, stand for nothing. Look at the last four Congressional elections, ’06, ’08, ’10 and ’12 — of three of the four we followed that strategy, ’06, ’08, and ’12, we put our head down, we stood for nothing and we got walloped. The one election that was a tremendous election was 2010 when Republicans drew a line in the sand. We said, unequivocally, we stand against ObamaCare, against bankrupting the country and we won in an historic tidal wave of an election.

And then of course, all of us remember President Dole and President McCain and President Romney — now look, those are good men, they’re decent men but when you don’t stand and draw a clear distinction, when you don’t stand for principle, Democrats celebrate.”
Here’s the full text of the interview, with McCain admitting he called Cruz to ask him to apologize, followed by Mitchell thanking McCain. Please page down to view video.
MSNBC’S ANDREA MITCHELL: I think he’s saying that you, Bob Dole and Mitt Romney did not stand for principle.

SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN: I spoke to Ted Cruz, he and I have a cordial relationship about this. And he can say what he wants to about me and he can say anything he wants to, I think, about Mitt. Mitt’s capable of taking it. But when he throws Bob Dole in there, I wonder if he thinks that Bob Dole stood for principle on that hilltop in Italy when he was so gravely wounded and left part of his body there fighting for our country?

Bob Dole is such a man of honor and integrity and principle. I hope that Ted Cruz will apologize to Bob Dole because that’s — that has crossed a line that to me that leaves the realm of the politics and discourse that we should have in America.

MITCHELL: Senator, did you call Ted Cruz after he gave his speech yesterday?

MCCAIN: I talked to him on the floor. I talked to him on the floor and said exactly what I’m telling you I said. If you want to — you know, say things that are critical of me and Mitt Romney, that’s fine. My beloved Bob Dole, as you know, is not in the best of health and he doesn’t need that in the twilight of his years.

MITCHELL: It just occurred to me as we’ve been speaking, we were playing some video of Ted Cruz and he was speaking like this (waving hands) and I thought, well, if Bob Dole could have used that arm, his whole life would have been a lot different. So thank you for making that point and thank you for being with us today. It meant a great deal to us.
