Have you seen the price of toilet paper ?

The big grocery companies have kicked out the unions , dumbed
down their employees by cutting the wages in half and using
    illegals

Yet their profits are measured in the billions of dollars

The oil companies arn't the only ones sticking to Americans

Toilet paper is expensive because it is considered a luxery in most Latin American countries. They are just "leveling the playing field".
    Its all about "Trade Deals".

The price of Toilet paper is Highway robbery...that industry needs to be regulated and fined.

The second part of these cheap goods were supposed to be due to the vast Trucking from Mexico to the US.....

    Yeah right

Commodity prices are tied very directly to the overall health of the (US and Global) Economy. I had a hard time explaining to some liberal co-workers recently that the astronomically high price of oil has little to do with the Iraq War. Some, to be sure, but there are other factors. The biggest is the prospect of industrial demand--now even more in China and India and whoever else is industrializing. Notice how crude oil has dropped back off its peak of a month ago? That is due to the likelihood of a faltering US economy, and subsequently less global demand as well.

The Grains that are normally traded: Wheat, Corm, Soybeans, Rice, Oats--are also affected, just not as quickly as petroleum. So now they have been taking off in price; and a lot of the grains are also used for feed for meat producing animals, dairy cows, ethanol, etc.

Sometimes it doesn't take much of a crimp in the "supply line" of a commodity to affect the price. Buyers are concerned about their company not having enough raw material to manufacture their product--and perhaps losing a lot of market share--so will sometimes bid up the prices higher than you would expect. The companies will try to pass this cost along--if they can.

But on other news.....This morning I went to the NW AgExpo---there are a lot of products out there to help get the food off the farm--and we don't need anywhere near the labor that they tell ya....Some equipment as manufactured is rather spendy--but I bet an intelligent craftsman could duplicate the essential activity of the machine for far less. Food would be cheaper if more farms had gone to mechanical harvesting instead of highly paid UFW members.

Its a total myth. Propagated by the MSM, the Wall Street Journal etc. If we hired Americans instead of illegals we'd pay an extra dime for a head of lettuce.
