DEMOCRATS THE REASON SCHIP IS NEEDED
DEMOCRATS THE REASON SCHIP IS NEEDED
The parents who let their child die by going without dental care for an infected tooth is the blame and not anyone else. If the family did not qualify for SCHIP them they must make too much money, over the $51,000 limit and should be responsible for the health care of their children. They should be held accountable for withholding medical care for their child with an infected tooth. Infected tooth is very painful and the child could have been taken into emergency, taken care of and paid for later. I would sell every thing I own to provide needed care for my child or let something go unpaid. Antibiotics does not cost that much and could have taken care of this problem.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen, Democrat is lying about the facts for the SCHIP program already in existence. He is the Representative that brought up the child with the infected tooth. Democrats are using children in the ads to support this bill and there is no way of checking the financial shape of the families.
----cost of plan $35 billion.
----3/4 of the children that are eligible for SCHIP has not signed up.
----All that is needed to sign up for this program is a SS number leaves it open the illegal aliens with false SS numbers.
----It is already very hard to find a doctor that will take Medicaid or Medicare and with the added SCHIP members doctors to treat them will not be found.
Democrats want SCHIP is the blame for the condition the American middle class is in by their support for illegal aliens and cheap labor that brings down wages and even taken jobs away from American families. Republican share in this blame also. But this SCHIP program will put further strain on the poor because the majority of smokers are poor and taxes raised on cigarettes will fall on them. By raising the taxes on cigerettes will not cause children to stop smoking.
I agree with BUSH that this program should only cover the poorest children. Under the Democrats SCHIP, families who already have health coverage will be able to cancel and get free health care from the government.

I agree also. The program should be for the neediest children. And, as far as the toothache scenario, I have seen that problem with one of our friends. The child had a severe toothache and they were just rubbing orajel on it. They said they couldn't afford to take her to the dentist because they didn't have insurance. But, they could afford to take a weekend trip to Lake Tahoe. Hm...................I wonder what a room would cost for two nights, food and gambling?
We don't see these people too much anymore. I treat my dogs better than some people treat their kids. My dogs get their teeth cleaned.

I agree Dems. are using children in these ads. They should. It's about children.
The Reps. have been discredited for lying about these children. The original facts have been relatively acurate, but Senator McConnel's (KY)office released several lies regarding these kids and their families.
THe additional cost of this program equals one week's cost of the Iraq war. We should be able to afford that for children.
Note: I'm neither a Dem. or a Rep. I pay 100% of my family's healthcare, since I'm self employed.

S-Chip for those poorest whose parents are legal United States citizens. It would be unfair for us to pay for an illegal child.
Illegals are having children at rapid rates, draining our welfare system, our schools and hospitals all the while avoiding taxes and claiming they are single parents. The facts are they are living with other familes and there partner but are not legally married. You can't get married legally if you are both illegals. That is how they are beating the system. So the fact is the illegal will benefit from this bill, again at our expense and at the same time drive more expensive cars then we will. The purpose of this bill should be that if your are illegal, we will not pay for your 6 kids health care. This is exactly what is not going to happen if they vote for this bill.<div>''Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid.''

They're using children as a shoehorn for their socialist plans. Democrats and illegals all the f same in this tactic.
Agree with Cakers. I've seen folks participating under the present program that can't afford children's medical care. However there is money for the "necessities", one new car, one older car, cable TV, high speed Internet hooked to a plasma, premium services phone and cell' for everybody, plenty of beer, cigarettes, and pot. This same person quit a pretty good paying job because they didn't like working at night. No there was no day job already lined up.
I can go with helping someone down on their luck, but see big problems with means testing. We're subsidizing luxuries. I don't have this stuff.Unemployment is not working. By the way, why should we give greedy businesses a free ticket? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the "new & improved" SCHIP encourage some folks to abandon their private plans, partially funded by their employer, for the liberals new public SCHIP. With many corporations and business making record profits, does it make sense to give them a free ride on providing employer subsidized healthcare? Furthermore, the new SCHIP will give more businesses an excuse to eliminate company healthcare plans.

Supporter of this bill say Illegals will not be able to access this program. But their are million of anchor babies that will.
Congress is Full of SCHIP

Nicole Garrett is not one of the uninsured. Her family is covered by Michigan’s Medicaid program. And so when her daughter Jada developed painful joint inflammation and needed to see a specialist, she turned to her Medicaid plan.
But if she had coverage, she lacked access: there was only one rheumatologist in her network, and the wait to see him was more than three months. Unfortunately, her story is all too common, an example of the failure of public programs — designed with the best of intentions —to produce acceptable outcomes. With Congress debating a massive expansion of such programs, the better prescription is for a smarter safety net, not a pricier one.
For millions of Medicaid patients, finding access to a doctor who accepts Medicaid’s low reimbursement rates is an agonizing struggle. As Ms. Garrett told the Wall Street Journal recently, “when we had real insurance, we could call [a doctor] and come in at the drop of a hat."
In fact, according to 2006 study by the Center for Studying Health System Change, over 20 percent of doctors have stopped accepting new Medicaid patients – a rate[b] “five times higher than for privately insured patients.â€

sCHIP no to families who make $82,000 and age 25
To:
President George Bush
Sen. Claire McCaskill
Rep. Ike Skelton
Sen. Christopher Bond
October 11, 2007
Subject: SCHIP
I am disappointed all my representatives voted for the expansion of SCHIP which is the State Children's Health Insurance Program started in 1997 for low income children.
I, like them, support the original program but the current legislation expands it beyond its original intent. Here are my reasons you should vote to uphold the Presidents veto.
1. Families whose income is $82,000 are not low income.
2. Children age 25 are not children, they are adults.
3. Smoking is wrong but to single out this group to pay for social programs is also wrong.
4. Adding coverage to illegal immigrants creates another reason for illegals to have anchor babies in this country.
Please support the Presidents veto and vote to sustain it.
Below are my thoughts on the above points if you need further reasoning.
1. Originally intended for low income children the eligibility has been increased from 200% of the poverty level to 400%. This means families whose income is $82,000 will be eligible for this program. Hardly low income. Also many in this group already have health care and will now be transferred to the public trough.
2. Originally intended for children to age 18 the eligibility has been increased to age 25. Hardly a child by any definition.
3. Smoking is wrong and if the government were truly concerned about citizen's health it would stop funding tobacco farmers and identify nicotine a drug and outlaw its use. This is not possible for many reasons but to single out tobacco as something to be taxed higher than other drugs, like alcohol, is also wrong. In addition, taxing tobacco will put the burden of paying for the increase disportionately onto poor families, the very families you are trying to help.
4. Illegal immigration is a huge problem in this country. Giving illegals, who are all low income, another reason to come here, just increases the problem. Many illegals have phony Social Security numbers and are paid in cash so they are not good tax paying citizens just tax using.GRAVOIS MILLS , MO
