Same old, same old. We tried Prohibition here at home, and we've tried interdiction twice. Once in Columbia and now in Mexico. By now, the results are completely predictable: gangland violence and massive corruption. To be sure, there are differences. I *think* that the level of violence against women is larger in Mexico than it was in the previous two failures. But aside from the gruesome details, the situation is the same.
I hope for the day when we'll admit that the only thing that will work long term is a policy of legalization, regulation, taxation, and education. Anything else is a delusion.
