HONOLULU – Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie wants to find a way to release more information about President Barack Obama’s Hawaii birth and dispel conspiracy theories that he was born elsewhere.

Abercrombie was a friend of Obama’s parents and knew him as a child, and is deeply troubled by the effort to cast doubt on the president’s citizenship.

The newly elected governor will ask the state attorney general’s office about what can be done to put an end to questions about Obama’s birth documentation from Aug. 4, 1961, spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz said Tuesday.

“He had a friendship with Mr. Obama’s parents, and so there is a personal issue at hand,â€

It’s unclear what Abercrombie could do because Hawaii’s privacy laws have long barred the release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who doesn’t have a tangible interest.

I would think ALL of the American people would have a tangible interest.

At this point I don't even think it matters where he was born. That seems to be the least of our troubles with him right now, the problem is he is trashing America!!!!!!!

thats exactly right, Obama is purposefully trashing America and the American Dream. Americans live in fear and this country is paralyzed. He really thought he was going to become a soft little dictator and have his socialist crypto marxist agenda implemented. It's so obvious and everybody knows it.

Everything you said is true about people knowing who he is now??...But we still have a big problem, almost half the country is still willing to go along with Obama's dangerous agenda...Half the country is getting a check from the government, free school meals, or they aren't paying taxes...The democrats like the people to be dependent on government... I'm scared he's going to be re-elected in 2012 by these people who want these things from the government... If that happens we are done as a country.

Funny this comes out after a Obama visit to Hawaii. Perhaps Abercrombie has invented a way to help his old friend?

They might dummy one up, but why the stalling all these years?
