ICE members should be praised for job well done in Postville raid

The recent raid in Postville certainly will result in a lot of responses. Of these, one was Mike Price’s letter to you in the May 15, 2008 issue of the Index.

Here’s my take on the issue. First of all, I think we should praise the members of ICE on a job well done. This is an example of the Federal Government doing what the Constitution of the United States says is within the power of the Federal Government. Our Government is to protect us from foreign invaders. The actions of the ICE help protect us from identity theft, and misuse of social security numbers. In addition, these people seized by ICE are a potential drain on the welfare system, which is not a constitutionally mandated function of the Federal Government; but which unfortunately exists.

I am, however, a former engineer. We engineers are problem solvers. So I have come up with a solution to the current dilemma. In addition to the lawyers we send to Postville, we need to send one additional person - a U.S. Marine Recruiter. This man/woman could save the day. If all the age eligible immigrants were to enlist in the Marine Corps it’s a win-win situation. First of all, by taking the oath to “Support and defend the Constitution of the United Statesâ€

Now those immigrants

Immigrants weren't arrested in Postville. Immigrants are persons participating in a legal process. These persons were all criminals guilty of felony identity theft for one. Let's not put criminals in our military!

I sent a reply to story, I asked if they have any stories about Americans affected by illegal aliens. Guess they don't have to worry about job loss and identity theft, and all else that goes with illegals. Or they are just plain dumb.

I just sent Mr. Baniecke a thank you letter.
