CSpan2 - US Senate 10/3/07 8:55am PT
US Senate is now voting on the Graham amendment to military funding bill.
The amendment designates 3 billion USD toward border security-related initiates (additional agents, increased detention space, more equipment, etc).
So far, it appears to be passing easily. - I'll post the final vote tally when available.
Hey, it looks like good news...
Update:
Also, I see from the CSpan screen captions that the amendment includes provisions for funding the border fence (well 700 miles) and also for the identification and apprehension of visa overstays/absconders.
I have not heard a single 'Nay' vote during the process thus far. In many of the floor speeches on this amendment this morning, every senator that spoke - including Graham - indicated 'we have heard the American people speak on the border security issue and will support this as a result' (well, paraphrased...).Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
