This got me enraged
During a business trip to Houston last week
I came to close to losing it.
My business counterpart had called a cab to take
both of us to airport and so the "Fiesta Cab" showed up.
I dont speak Spanish but I can understand it very well; however
I do not advertise it so nobody really knows this talent of mine.
Going back to their conversation, it went something like this:
Parnert: "I lived in California so sometimes I speak like a Mexican"
Cab Driver:"Lots of the Race there, too, huh?"
Partner: "Oh yeah."
Cab Driver: "Great! We will take our land back, little by little".
I could believe this. This guy had been living here for over 25 years. Taking advantage of all opportunites and now he wanted his land back.
I was dropped off first at my terminal, if not so, I would have told him
to fix his toilet country first before embarking on such allucinations.
Another thing: For my daughter 1st birthday a guest called me offering to bring a pinata for the party and the answer was NO NO NO NO NO NO ..
enough is enough

I also am learning some spanish and have overheard some interesting conversations like yours. And it does make you mad. They think we don't understand them and sometimes it is better to play dumb.

Know how shocked you feel when you actually hear it for yourself. I still have to take a moment, pull my chin off the floor and pry my clenched fingers apart before I can go on. I have to stop myself and remind myself, it's not all of them and remember the nice ones I've met. It is getting harder and harder each day and it doesn't help when there's Spanish everywhere you turn, a blatent hatred when you walk into a store as if you don't have the right to be there, and the not so nice "in your face" get used to it because this is your future....has me seething. Seeing the total disregard for the law and an apparent inability to enforce it has me extreemly angered.

Several years ago, visiting Nogales Mex. with my blond American fluent in Spanish girlfriend, he heard a store clerk refer to us as "American lice."
Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...

I do not speak French Canadian at all but my s.o. does and taught me special phrase. When we have people around me blabbering rather loudly in spanish one of us says "shut your "bad word" mouth" in French Canadian or Pigeon French as he calls it just as loud. It seems to work as they are shocked someone is saying something to them in a language they totally do not understand. We always get a chuckle out of the shocked look on their faces.
I mean we have no idea what they are saying and can only assume that when our bagger and cashier are giggling, looking at us, and speaking spanish that what they are saying is not good. So I feel this is often a good remedy so we do not lose either of our tempers then I boycott the store and write the corporation."What part of illegal don't you understand?"

Why coulldn't say that anyways? He drops you off, you open door, pay him, and tell him where to stick his opinions. Seems easy enough.
