This has been stated to be a database error. The current Social Security database is running VERY OLD software which does NOT have the fields necessary and therefore creates an age error.

Social Security staff have requested for YEARS that Congress fund a software enhancement to fix this and other issues. Congress has NOT funded this essential upgrade.

So, "A legacy of bureaucratic incompetence" might better be ascribed to our Congress for NOT funding the NEEDED software upgrades!

I heard this "live" from a Social Security employee in Technical Support, plus the Director stated it as well when it first came out in the news.
