    A defense bill containing language to repeal "don't ask, don’t tell," was blocked from the Senate floor after falling short of the 60 votes needed to overcome a GOP filibuster. The 57-40 vote, largely along party lines, is likely an end to legislative efforts to change the policy.

    Lieberman plans to introduce a stand-alone bill sometime later tonight-or tomorrow. Presser with him, Udall, and Collins soon.
