With the financial bailout crisis, don't forget that the Senate has only today and tomorrow to bring H.R. 6633, which would reauthorize E-Verify for five years, to the floor of the Senate for a vote. H.R. 6633 was passed overwhelmingly by the House of Representatives, but Senator Robert Menendez (NJ) has placed a hold on the bill in the Senate with the purpose of trying to attach authorization of over 500,000 permanent new foreign visas to its passage.

Over 500,000 U. S. workers were reported newly unemployed by the Department of Labor in August! The United States already takes over one million legal foreign immigrants each year - more than any other nation in the world!

E-Verify has been "reauthorized" until March 29, 2009 as part of a general government reauthorization. However, in March we will be facing an "Open Borders" Administration, whoever is elected! Please call your Senators and request that they work to bring H.R. 6633 to the floor of the Senate for a vote this week free of any attempts to link it to any increased in foreign worker visas!
