DOT will speak at DC Conference

Secretary Mary Peters of the U.S. Department of Transportation, a White House Cabinet member, will be a featured speaker at the Border Trade Alliance’s 2007 International Conference "Balancing Security, Commerce and the Flow of People at our International Borders," held in the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington D.C. on February 28 & March 1.

The two-day event will begin with a breakfast presentation on Capitol Hill and focus on the development and security of border infrastructure at ports of entry, covering the challenges of providing for increased commerce in a period of heightened security measures.

Other confirmed speakers are:

John Cornyn, U.S. Senator from Texas
David Winstead, GSA Commissioner
Jill Hochman, FHWA Director of Interstate and Border Planning
José M. García, Embassy of Mexico
Audrey Adams, CBP Deputy Assistant Commissioner for International Affairs
Topics during the conference include Federal Coordination of Border Issues, WHTI issues of technology and immigration, Infrastructure, Trade Security Facilitation, and SBInet.
