    Dream act alert !

    PRO-AMNESTY SIDE HAS PANICKED,
CREATING DANGER OF A RECKLESS & DESPERATE
    AMNESTY ATTEMPT BEFORE AUGUST RECESS

For a year and a half, the giant pro-amnesty groups and their tens of millions of dollars have opposed bringing up the DREAM Act amnesty for illegal aliens in high school and college (and quite a few others).

    The reason?

The pro-amnesty groups know that if a smaller amnesty for the most compelling illegal aliens were to pass there would be far less chance of passing "comprehensive immigration reform" (blanket amnesty) later.

Suddenly over the last few days, most of the pro-amnesty groups have conceded that we have beaten them on blanket amnesty this year. (Congratulations to all of you because you are the reason.) And they are pretty sure that the November elections are going to create a Congress for next year that is LESS receptive to amnesty.

So now, they want to at least get an amnesty for an estimated 2.1 million illegal aliens while they think they can.

Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-Nevada) announced yesterday for the first time that is going to try to bring the DREAM Act amnesty to a vote this year because the pro-amnesty groups now say it is OK.

For reasons that I am not going to tell you because the opposition listens in on our alerts, our Capitol Hill Team believes that circumstances of the Senate calendar and dynamics over the next 10 days make it quite possible that Reid would spring the DREAM amnesty on the Senate before it leaves town on August recess.

REID DID A SNEAK VOTE ON DREAM AMNESTY IN 2007
HE COULD EASILY DO IT AGAIN

Back in November of 2007, Sen. Reid pulled a couple of parliamentary tricks late on a Sunday night that set up a vote on the DREAM Act amnesty for just 72 hours later.

That vote came out of nowhere (after Reid's blanket amnesty had been defeated earlier in June.

Talk Radio didn't have time to get heated up. Most activist groups weren't able to organize in time.

Only NumbersUSA was fully mobilized, and we just barely beat back the attempt.

I'm sure that Reid and his advisors are thinking that all the opposition debate the last two years has been about "comprehensive immigration reform" amnesty and that he might be able to fool most of his Democratic Members and a handful of Republicans into thinking that the DREAM amnesty is just a little thing that isn't really that controversial.

We could make the YES voters pay big time in November, but we still might be stuck with the amnesty.

    FACTS ABOUT DREAM AMNESTY
THAT YOUR SENATORS PROBABLY DON'T KNOW

Just like in November of 2007, NumbersUSA activists, (and all other activists) it is primarily up to you to make the DREAM Act amnesty "politically radioactive."

Make sure every Senator knows that the public knows the following:

DREAM amnesty supporters acknowledge that around 2.1 million people would qualify for the amnesty. That is almost as large as the entire blanket amnesty of 1986. This is not small.

The DREAM Act is written so that anybody under age 35 could apply for a provisional amnesty by merely "claiming" to meet the criteria. The only way to lose the legal status would be if the feds individually bring a suit and prove that you are lying. Imagine how many hundreds of thousands would be able to get through that loophole. So, the 2.1 million amnesty would likely go much higher.

The DREAM Act allows the kids to petition for their parents and adult brothers and sisters to get legal immigrant status. That undermines the argument that this amnesty is just for those who are blameless. Instead, it allows the parents who broke the law and put the kids in their bad situation to benefit by becoming U.S. citizens themselves.

Because the new-fangled Chain Migration categories have been allowed to continue, the DREAM amnesty winners would be able to put millions upon millions more relatives into waiting lines for U.S. citizenship (something that creates tremendous pressure for more illegal immigration).

The DREAM amnesty does absolutely nothing to improve enforcement to keep millions more parents from putting their kids into the same legal limbo situation as the kids getting the amnesty. If it were a serious effort to protect kids in the future, it would include Sen. Pryor's (D-Ark.) SAVE Act that mandates verification for all workers and would remove the jobs magnet from future illegal immigration.

Folks, unless you call your Senators and start educating their staff, most of them have no idea of the bullet points above.
Phone your U.S. Senators and express your outrage at any kind of amnesty during this time of high unemployment and a jobless economic recovery. 202-224-3121 TS
