    Propaganda on Mexican Cultural TV

I used to enjoy CANAL ONCE (Channel 11) from Mexico, a channel that presents many interesting cultural and educational programs about Mexico and about the world. Some are occasionally repeated. However, there is one program that has been run dozens of times over the past few weeks.... in five iterations… without any diverging points of view...... amounting to “propagandaâ€

I guess as soon as they have convinced themselves of the "justice" of their cause, the more resolute types can start their violent attacks....

I am beginning to think CA is a lost cause. The news reports here state that with anchor baby births over 70% of the Mexicans in CA are now citizens. They expect that within 15 years they will be the solid majority in this state. I can't say they are wrong unless something is done fast.

In other words: this debate has NOTHING to do with the noble concept of immigration, but has everything to do with political power for Latinos and short-term profits for certain corporations..... using the mechanism of de facto discrimination that favors Mexicans .... to turn this nation into another one of those marvelous LATIN COUNTRIES..... with a record of 515 years of LATINO MANAGEMENT achieving nothing, except enriching a few individuals like Mexican billionaire CARLOS SLIM...

did you know that Mexico has more billionaires than Germany and Switzerland? I wonder why?

A figurative boot in the arse would put a stop to this bravado quickly. These comments are coming from people lacking the mental machinery to pull off their intended coup. They lack discretion and restraint, and have seriously underestimated the forces against them. In my more generous moments, I almost feel sorry for them.

then there the actress "Armendariz" complaining that the Americans are too lazy to learn about the culture of their immigrant newcomers, provoking thereby the current divisiveness.... (hmmmm, they force themselves into our house, then bitch about the homeowner being reluctant to extend a hearty welcome...)

Mexicans, who already are "Hybrids" by virtue of being "mestizos" (white and native Indian... 60% of Mexico) are becoming double "hybrids" by living both the US culture and the Mexican culture...

They even complain that CHICANOS (US-born Mex-Americans) do not really know their Mexican heritage, so new immigrants have to educate them about that heritage....

The lament was stated several times to the effect that many Mexican immigrants are only now discovering the richness of their heritage, being physically separated from their homeland.... apparently a wonderful thing....

in all these programs there was not a single mention of Mexicans "praising" anything about US culture, nor assimilating to it, but making sure that their "old" culture is not forgotten...

Armendariz keeps going on about "Gringos not making an effort to understand the Mexican culture", which she sees as creating animosity in the community... That poor woman claims to have "her own third nationaltiy" including a National Anthem that switches back and forth between the American and the Mexican anthems...

The Spanish language and culture is the future, and whoever does not recognize it is, well, is stupid and ignorant....

Professor Cuellar goes on about the book by Richard Rodriguez in his book "Hunger of Memory" giving advice on how to get rid of one's old culture and assimilating into US society....

it seems clear that this wave of "immigrants" has no intention of even considering assimilation as preivous waves did; it is a matter of national honor to maintain intimate connections to Mexico.... (as if illegals were ONLY Mexicans...)

Arizmendi theorizes that these new Mexicans in the US really have a third nationality which she names AMEXICAN... neither Mexican nor American... wow, that chick is conflicted or is desperately trying to justify NOT assimilating into her new chosen life in the US...

Miss Escandon (writer) proudly proclaims that she did not get to know her native culture until she started living in the US.... she had to come to the US (illegally) to have an epiphany!

Gabriel Baristan (movie maker) also had an epiphany stating that it is perfectly possible to be a bi-cultural and bilingual person, without any conflict whatsoever.......

all just machinations to justify their illegal presence and their duplicity in their pronouncements about "the American Dream", yet living in a "Mexico outside of Mexico"....

So, finally they complain about the land of the "rule of law" not giving dignity and human rights to those who are "invisible" in the US economy, being exploited because of their illegal status..... invoking Rosa Parks... as if invaders had any rights whatsoever, except that of an overnight stay and a bus ticket back home into their paradise-lost...

and not a word about OTHER IMMIGRANTS, barely mentioning "Latinos", only Mexicans.... making this debate a racist debate by ignoring the fact of this is clearly DE FACTO DISCRIMINATION IN FAVOR OF MEXICANS...

it is clear theyconsider they have a right to come, Gringos have an obligation to let them do it at will and not bitch.... we should recognize that they are making tremendous economic contributions, even saving our Soc Security system long term....

of course that ignores these facts:

$300 Billion remittances sent ouf of the US in 2006 (including $24B to Mexico)
    $167B Foreign Direct Investment
    $103B Direct Foreign Aid

(source: Businessweek issue dated Nov 12, 07)

that's all money NOT earned by Americans, and NOT spent in the US economy; frightening numbers

If you can't integrate two CULTURES of people who were ONE NATION only two generations ago, how could you expect these NEW immigrants to integrate into US society if they keep INSISTING ON MAINTAINING their intimate contact with their OLD culture.....

18 years after the FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL, Germany is STILL DIVIDED... is there a lesson here? perhaps... INTEGRATE OR DISINTEGRATE... America is in danger of DISINTEGRATING with this artificial PC-sensitivity to immigrant's culture...

It's also interesting to note that there are never any Spanish to English translations in the Spanish news media or print media. I have contacted "LaOpinion" in Los Angeles (the major Spanish newspaper) to inquire as to why they have NO English translations...I have never even received a reply!!! Also, all of the English channels in LA have Spanish translations (SAP) but there are NO English translations...how are we supposed to know what is happening right under our noses iin our own city??? And one more thing...the internet has English to Spanish translations, but very rarely do I ever find the opposite to be true!
