    Dear Mr.xxxxxxx:

Thank you for your letter regarding illegal immigration. I agree with you that we must curtail the flow of illegal immigrants and ensure that those who seek to enter this country do so by respecting our laws and regulations. Comprehensive immigration reform is needed to fix our broken system.

As the Chair of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship, I have been working with the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security to lay the groundwork for such reform. I have supported efforts to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants, to ensure that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has the necessary authority to conduct investigations and make arrests in smuggling cases across our borders, and to take concrete steps to achieve operational control over our border. It is imperative that current illegal aliens submit to a rigorous process of converting to legal status and earning a path to citizenship – or face deportation.

While I share your support for enforcement measures, I believe that there are too many problems with the E-Verify system to support making it a mandatory and permanent program. Under the current system, any individual who steals a social security number and has access to a credible fake ID can get a job in the United States. Therefore, I support creating a biometric-based federal employment verification system that will give employers and employees have the peace of mind that all employment relationships are both lawful and proper. This would provide employers with a simple and reliable mechanism for verifying the legal status of their employees and will truly be effective in combating illegal immigration. I have supported and continue to support such biometric verification measures as integral elements of comprehensive immigration reform.

Thank you for contacting me on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can ever be of assistance to you on this, or any other matter.

    Sincerely,

    Charles E. Schumer
    United States Senator

Schumer is a creep. I have sent his office news stories about:
    1. 88,000 acre fire in California caused by Mexican drug cartel
    2. Rampant marriage visa fraud
    3. Drug busts of foreign drug traffickers
    4. Sex slavery rings right in his own state of NY.

With any amnesty we can expect more of the same. It won't solve our problems. Legalized foreign citizens, under present Acts, will be given protected status while US citizens go to the bottom. It will so embolden ultra left henchmen and haters that we will be irreparably changed. Until enough liberal Democrats are voted out and a just balance restored this would be our fate.
