    Ice Cream Truck Sold Pot-Sicles

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/ ... 4598.shtml

    MISSION, Texas, May. 25, 2007
(AP) Police say the jingle of this ice cream truck meant pot-sickles. Police say elementary school students tipped them off to an ice cream truck driver who was apparently selling $5 and $10 bags of marijuana from the truck. Most customers were in the third, fourth, and fifth grades.

"It's a scary thought, but that's the info we received," Mission police Chief Leo Longoria said.

Raymundo Flores, a 40-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, was arrested Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana. He was transported to Hidalgo County jail after a judge set bond at $30,000. His case will likely be turned over to federal immigration officials, Assistant Police Chief Robert Dominguez said.

While police didn't witness any sales, a drug sniffing dog did help them find packets of marijuana alongside the more traditional frozen treats.

News video showed the driver may have been doing some subtle advertising. While the outside of the truck was festooned with pictures of ice cream, pendants in the shape of marijuana leaves dangled inside the truck.

Neighbor arrested following girl's abduction, assault

Indianapolis - A seven-year-old girl is recovering at Riley Hospital after police say she was abducted from her south side apartment and sexually assaulted. Prosecutors charged her neighbor with the crime.

Prosecutors say when a man abducted a seven-year-old from her room and sexually assaulted her, he shattered a young girl's innocence.

Prosecutors say Jonathan Castillo, 27, confessed in court that he committed the crime after drinking at the Capitol Place Apartments Tuesday. It was the middle of the night. The intruder wore a ski mask over his face.

"So you can imagine how frightened she must have been and she was clutching a teddy bear," said Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi.

"I'm scared because I have kids too, so I don't know," said Courtney Scott, neighbor. "That's horrible the worst thing I've ever heard in my entire life."

Police say Castillo left his ground floor apartment, walked behind the complex and scaled a three-floor balcony where he broke into the little girl's bedroom.

The young victim was asleep inside with her mother asleep in the same room. Investigators say the intruder snatched the seven-year-old, and carried her back to a nearby apartment, where he sexually assaulted her. The girl's family members later awoke and discovered she was missing.

Captain Phil Burton with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department says when the girl's parents left their apartment to look for their daughter, they saw a man coming up the road carrying her. The man dropped the girl on the ground, turned and ran.

Police arrested Castillo after his girlfriend gave them key information about evidence in the apartment. Prosecutors call the crime disturbing: a little girl, not safe, even in her own home.

That attack was so brutal that the young victim had to undergo surgery at Riley Hospital.

"That emotional trauma, physical trauma is going to stay with her forever," said Brizzi.

Brizzi filed one count of A felony child molestation, one count of A felony burglary, two counts of B felony criminal confinement and one count of battery against Castillo. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 100 years in prison and possible deportation as an undocumented alien.

If at all possible, CALLS are the most effective.

Give that a try first, if you can.
